Difference with 2002 model ?
#1
I was at the bike shop this morning checking out the difference with the 2001 model compared to the 2002 model. My replacement bike since my crash maybe another red/silver one, but the '02 models looked good - no red though! Didn't get to see the black/blue in flesh but looks awesome on computer!
Anyway, only difference I could see was:
1 - Polished Steel pipes before mufflers;
2 - Radiator painted Silver;
3 - Front wheel axle nut internally recessed.

Any differences with engine or frames that people know about? Peter

Hi peter, I asked a salesman if there was any changes to the new model and was told no changes. I'm tossing up whether
to buy 2001 or new model as there is only $410 between the two. And I agree the black blue is the way to go. Any other changes you might know of would be helpful as the dealer only has 2001 model brochure.

Hi Peter, I picked up my 02 Black/Blue Busa 3 weeks ago, and there are very few differences to the 01 model, the only one you left out is the speedo only goes to 300 on the new model.

The black paint has a metallic blue fleck through the paint which you don’t see on the brochures. Let me know if you would like some pics and I will email em. Mark

Well Les and I went down to Action Melb. to have a look at the blue/black, but as it was Friday,they didnt manage to assemble it yet. But the crate was open and we had a look. The combination of the blue with the black takes a bit of getting used too, but am inclined to say it's striking. The gold decals sure do stand out and compliment the look and I love the exhaust being steel and not black painted up till now. Couldnt really pick up any other differences, but if the choice of a k1 or k2 being $4-500, I know what I'd do, K2 all the way. Cant see why they didnt bring in the silver/grey though.

Hi Mark, I would love to see those photos you've got. Email them to peterelston@email.com if you could. Sounds like everyone will be envious of the blue/black! Hope everyone had a great time on the toy run if you went - have to work every Sunday - doh!!
Cheers, Peter

There are a few mechanical changes. The most notable are:- different ECU and the provision for an oxygen sensor. Haven't ridden a K2 yet, so don't know how the ECU change has affected performance. The addition of the oxygen sensor on bikes for other markets probably means that we will be getting a closed loop injection system soon. This is a good thing.

Word on the other boards is that the 2002 model is well and truly governed in the top speed department. Probably has something to do with the new ECM. The 6.8K ohm resistor override trick apparently does not work. Then again if you never head upto the N.T. it probably wont bother you.

Mark - why not put the photos up on this board? Either here, or in the photos section.

Congratulation to busababy on his new arrival black/blue K2. Pity he cant ride it much but he can spend hours drooling and polishing. Not to mention scraping them bloody labels off the bike, ya should have seen him, with the one on the tank practically baked on, lol.

Aren,t those stickers a pain,bad enough in one language but who needs three.
Just bought a new Suzi 1000 and they are everywhere - right on the tank where you want a protector.
Does any body know of some means of getting them off without marking the paint.
"Still kept my Busa,not to be parted with"
Have been trying to get Maisto Busa models from toyworld and model stores - pretty scarce but have located three, only blue and silver.
Does the 02 busa still have the crazing on backwheel hub?
Seen some lucky bod picking up a new red and silver Busa from Action in Melb last sat -think he was finding it a bit intimidating, Hope he got it home and joins the club.
Being from N.S.W. can somebody tell me what is Cafe Racer?
Merry Xmas to all

Cafe Racer, is on Beach Rd. St.Kilda/Elwood. Near Luna Park.

Eucalyptus Oil, is supposed to do the trick, with labels.

Actually it's the main "bench racers" hangout where all the so called best riders meet drink coffee, talk of how fast and good they can ride, then ride back home, whilst the "other" riders are out riding the roads.

Black and blue on a bike sounds like a bad omen to me... It's all about riding.
