Clutchless gear changes

Does changing gears without using the clutch have an adverse effect on any of the bikes components?

G'day,
I rode an R! with a KILN shift kit last weekend, unbelievable upshifting with the throttle pinned WFO.
Not so good when riding "normally". The biggest thing is to overcome is the usual mind set of rolling off the throttle to change up, but once used to it .....it's like riding an automatic !!
Manufacturer reckons it is actually easier on the transmission because of the smoothness in the upshift.
Down shifting as per normal.

I personally wouldn't bother because if your not fangin' it, it is not as smooth as it could be.
Great fun though.

When I drag the Bus I upshift with no clutch...it doesn't seem to object, although I do rip the skin off the top of my big toe !!

Clutch? Clutch? What's a clutch?

Seriously though . (almost) using the clutch is a real good idea when selecting 1st. Otherwise, I have been changing up on many different bikes over the last 30 odd years without using the clutch. Haven't broken one yet but if you are not concentrating you will get some horrible noises from the box and that can't be good.... Oobviously the revs are critical and if you get it right it seems to work ok. Equally obvious is that there is some risk of damage but, like everything else in life, the choice is yours

Have fun!
