I saw an incident on the national news this morning about a bus driver that intentionally ran over a Suzuki sports bike in the CBD last night after he had cut off two riders at an intersection.
Apparently the owner of the bike then proceeded to punish the driver and will be charged with assault.
I hope commen sense prevails here and that it wasn't one of our latte guys.

I hope it was nobody we know. Some of those CBD bus drivers are vicious and they will run over you if you don't get out of there way, same goes for the tram drivers too. I know I deal with them all day in my Job. I hope they punched the crap out of him.

just heard it on the radio too.
started in Sydney Rd.
the way i understand it bus drivers have right of way when they come out from a stop. (can anyone confirm this?)
a lot of people don't know this and it could be interpretted that he cut them off.
not backing the bus driver up just stating how it may have happened. Cheers,
Pete

Yeah busses have the right of way, if pulling back onto the road from an actual bus stop, but only then.

I have often been beside them when they pull out, they see you, and just dont care.. hard to give way when your beside them.

Ok, I gotta get back to the station now for further questioning.. just kidding lucky it wasnt done by one of these bkies

A BUS driver cowered in the back of his bus as three motorcyclists smashed the windows in retaliation for being told to get out of a bus zone.

Driver Ranjana Thenabadu told the Herald Sun his life flashed before his eyes in the incident that ended at the corner of City Rd and Clarendon St, South Melbourne at 10.50pm.
The road rage incident had started minutes earlier on City Rd at Ferrars St, where Mr Thenabadu tried to pull his Ventura buslines bus into a bus zone to collect waiting passengers.

He told the Herald Sun he couldn't pull the bus off the busy roadway because three men sat on their motorbikes blocking the space.

"I made a noise with the bus horn, but they would not move," he said.

"I told them I had to get in closer to pick up my passengers but they stayed there and started abusing me, saying awful things in other languages."

It was then the three men allegedly started to pound on the bus windows, with one allegedly punching Mr Thenabadu to the right side of the head through his driver's side window.

In fear, Mr Thenabadu started to drive off with two of the men placing themselves in front of his bus to block his path.

The bike riders drove off a short distance, allowing the Sri Lankan-born driver of two years to drive on.

As he started to drive towards Clarendon St one of the motorcyclists suddenly pulled in front of the bus.

The man jumped clear as the bus ploughed into his Suzuki motorcycle, which was dragged underneath the front of the bus for more than 150m.

British travellers, Ed Abbott and Janette Brassington told the Herald Sun the bus came to a stop at the City Rd and Clarendon St intersection outside Melbourne Central Hostel, where they were relaxing in the ground floor lounge.

They said the men returned to remonstrate with the distressed driver, smashing the bus door and trying to get in.

Passengers also covered their heads as the angry men tried to enter.

"It happened right in front of us," Mr Abbott said. "The driver ran down the back to his five or so passengers."

Ms Brassington said: "The two guys left their bikes up the road and came down with the guy who was thrown off who was the one trying to get in.

"His bike started to smoke and it was under the bus. There was a small fire but luckily it stopped. Police were here so quickly."

Police, fire crews and ambulance paramedics attended the scene where the three motorcyclists and their friends congregated and directed heated words at the distraught bus driver.

Paramedics treated Mr Thenabadu for shock and the punch to the head.

The male motorcyclist, aged in his 20s, who jumped free of the bus was treated for minor cuts and abrasions.

"I didn't know if there was someone under the bus," Mr Thenabadu said as he started to cry.

"It was so terrible, I thought it was the end for me.

"I had passengers and what if I hadn't . . . what if that man had got in to the bus and I was on my own? I just thought about my three kids.

"And my mother, how could I have left her."

lol@rocket, im guessing you missed the first bit of the storey.

We are all bike riders here so we know how easy it would be for another vehicle to wipe us out if they wanted. If I was in a vehicle larger than a bike and I was threatend, I would have no issue with watching the demise of the rider. If a bike rider, car driver or any other person came up to me threatening me while I was still sitting in my car, they would want to hope they had life insurance. Im to lazy to open my door and get out and fight, I would literaly run straight over them and not feel bad about it at all!.

Im driving to Jindy... haha.. watch out.. not really going on bike.

lol.. you know i live in the cbd.. ive seen them drive, and what is a redlight to a tram driver ? Stop only if you feel like it..

Im affraid if the bikers want to possibly win the battle, they might be better off picking a bus without passengers next time.. its a bit hard when there is a bunch of witnesses.

Ok truth is no ones version of events are confirmed as yet. Channel 9 had this peice:

Melbourne cops probe bus driver bashing
Friday Feb 9 10:11 AEDT
Police are investigating what sparked a road rage incident in which a bus driver was bashed and a motorbike caught fire in inner Melbourne overnight.

About five motorbike riders were involved in the incident but police say they were not part of a gang.

One man was arrested.

Police believe the bus, carrying three passengers, may have cut the riders off, or the driver may have asked them to move from a bus stop.

"As a result of that incident, the bus has been surrounded by the motorcycles as it's driven along," Senior Constable Rob Hay said.

Two motorcycles stopped in front of the bus, forcing the bus to stop.

The riders got off their bikes and started hitting the bus, at which point the bus driver took off, dragging one of the riderless bikes under the bus for about 100m along City Road, Sen Const Hay said.

The riders followed and one smashed the driver's door window and windscreen and assaulted the driver, Sen Const Hay said.

The damaged motorcycle caught fire under the bus, but one of the riders doused the blaze with a fire extinguisher from a nearby service station.

Sen Const Hay said police were yet to take statements from several witnesses.

"We're still trying to determine an exact picture of what started this ... we have a number of versions of events," he said.

He said it was lucky no one was seriously hurt in the "pointless" display of road rage.

"Being cut off is not an uncommon experience, if that's what's happened on this occasion. To now end up with criminal charges and one of your friends has lost his bike, it's a pointless exercise, it's got them nowhere."

Sen Const Hay said he would not have expected the passengers, including two women, to step in.

"I think probably everyone on that bus was in fear, given the number of people involved," he said.

The National Bus Company bus driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He may face driving charges.

The arrested motorcyclist was released and would be charged on summons with criminal damage and assault, Sen Const Hay said.

If they were parked where they shouldn't have been then they should have moved when the bus driver sounded his horn Bus stops are bus stops not bike or car stops.

Volvi is spot on when he said that this shit reflects on all of us, just today I got tooted & shown a fist by a bus driver going up Sunshine Avenue Taylor's Lakes minding my own business, sitting on the limit

Prolly letting off a bit of steam over his mate's flogging

Now we're all bastards & all tarred by the same brush

Seriously thought....
You can't have too much up top if you are a bus driver (or cabbie, truck driver, engineer, IT specialist, etc...)!

Not saying what the bikers did was right - no way!

But these days, taking on anyone on the road is just asking for this kind of trouble.

The other day I was going through the round-about in Tullamarine (next to Honda) when a semi, approaching from the left, went staight through in front of me missing the bumper by about 1 metre. I tooted my horn - big mistake!

He then proceeded to try to slow down and "flick" his trailer to push me off the road - screaming and shouting as he went along - and I had right of way!

It's not the first time - and I'm sure it won't be the last...

And I consider myself a fairly relaxed driver too

I think both parties are at fault in this instance, no matter who started it.

"Don't ride behind me, I just ate beans. Don't ride in front of me because your ass is huge. Just ride beside me so I can push you into on coming traffic."
