I finally got my new leathers from Underdog, thanks to Astro for putting me on to Ed in Sydney who re-measured me and Joe in Melbourne for ordering a new suit.
It arrived yesterday, it fits good and looks great.
Thanks guys.

Congrats Billy???Kylie

I've had my Underdog Leathers for nearly two years now. Wasn't real happy with the hipster type pants on there own, but zipped up they are great. I had a few hassles with the zip, the pant fly broke first time I put them on, Ed arranged for them to be fixed and now no dramas. The jacket front zip also went during a ride one day, panicked for a while but fixed it on the side of the road and again no more hassles.

When I threw the Bus down the track at Eastern Creek the leather really saved my hide, I don't think there was a panel of them that didn't take a beating, but they stood up to the task, albeit, I wore through the stitching on the arse and looked somewhat like our mate by the time I finally stopped, however, my skin remained intact and that is all that counts. Got a freind to stitch them up and they are again finally seeing some action, hopefully not quite as much as my last episode though.

I believe that they have improved the make quality and the stitching issue is now nul-and-void. Also got a fair bit of dye off the jacket during the first shower, but believe that they have also addressed that.

Otherwise, I just keep the leather protector / waterproofer up to them and they are serving me fine.

Enjoy.

Kylie... glad to help. I knew Ed would fix your problem.

I've known Ed for many years and he is a very fair and reasonable person. He is a commited rider and - up until the recent changes to ride day arrangements out at Eastern Creek - served as a safety official on most ride days held there. He stands by the Underdog product and knowing Ed, if it wasn't good gear, he wouldn't promote it. There have been changes made to manufacturers - so the issues of the past are no more. (No - I'm not on a commission and I'm not associated with Underdog - but I do have some of their gear).

For anyone interested in custom made leathers, I recommend you have a talk with Ed about Underdog. He's at the Road Warriors Cafe most weekends (he's about to expand his shop there). Ask anyone at the counter and they'll point you to Ed. He's a mechanic by trade and also supplies and fits tyres, batteries, pads, various fluids and other bits and pieces right there at the cafe. Not to mention the hundreds of times he's got people going when their pride and joy lets 'em down on the Old Road. He and Max (the owner of the Road Warriors Cafe) also provide a free recovery service to people who take a tumble down the road. You want commitment ? You got it.

Tell him 'Bob the Dishpig' sent you (thats me) and you'll get the Dishpig discount.

If anyone wants Ed's number email me (Astrobusa@hotmail.com) and I'll provide it.

Happy riding Kylie... Regards.... Rob (Astro)

Thanks Dave.

Theres a picture of Ed in the 'Gallery' section standing next to his recently rebuilt RF900. Take a note of that bike... you'll only ever see it from behind. The NSW contact numbers and email are Ed's.

Ed's daughter Kelly is also in the 'Gallery' section standing next to the CBR250RR she got a fortnight ago. She passed her "L"s course this week (so obviously some of the 'Last Updated' statements need to be updated !)

Based on what you guys have said about these leathers, I'm getting measured up here in Perth for some. Astro (aka Dishpig????) who do I tell about you being their best salesman? The local guy probably doesn't know you're various alias'.

Bear.... I don't know the local guy in WA. It'd be appreciated if he let Ed know about the biz. Apart from that, if he'd like to show me his appreciation, he can give you a good discount.

Astro,

Do you know if those of us that have the older style of leathers can get the stiching fixed ?
A fellow rider and mate of mine crash @ no more then 80kph and a HUGE bit of pannel ripped open.

I have the same style as his and I am worried that they won't stand up to the test.

(Also... I like them but I got 2 issues with them that I'll put out here for GENERAL info ;) I am not knocking them)

1. I paid extra for the hard race armour.... the only problem is I kinda thought these would be stictched in to the jacket and pants, but they are not. They are dropped in to pockets in the liner. I know Wearlej lost skin due to armour moving when he crashed. So this I am getting fixed by a local melbourne leather suit maker because they move around so much and are not positioned correctly.

2. I did have issues when I said it didn't fit correctly. I was told I had to wear them in first. I did and I was still right & now because of this part of the liner has torn at the seems in the jacket. To correct it I need streach pannels put in for around the arm/shoulder join to stop it getting worse. When I contacted underdogs and tried to explain it I didn't get a very good reply and found people really get on the defence when you starting asking questions.

All in all I like them & I hope they do the job I got them for. Underdog has done a great job in providing cheap leathers for those of us that can not afford to go and buy 2k worth of leather. Apart from the two issues I had and the ones mentioned above my post I think they are good & worth it if they fit correctly & do the job. The winter liner is good and I'll be testing that a little more here in Melbourne ;)

Raz... I'd make contact with the original provider. I think they do have a pretty liberal 'make good' policy but you'd have to check with your local guy coz he'll need to see them problem areas. Check on the web-site (theres a link in this thread).

Just a reminder. I don't work for Underdog and I can't defend their suits coz I don't have one. I'm a mate of Ed's (the NSW distributor), I know how seriously he takes safety and I trust him. Thats pretty much the extent of it.

My leathers are Dianese - not because I rejected the Underdog gear - simply because I had a client who was my size, bought the Dianese and then went o/s. It was pretty hard to pass up a 2 y.o. Dianese suit for $350 !! Its 6 yrs old now and I still love it !

I do have Underdog gloves and gauntlets and they are excellent.

If you've got a bitch - please feel free to vent as much as you want. But remember to report how well (or how badly) you were treated when you tried to have it rectified. Regards.... Rob (Astro)

Astro, I have ordered a two piece and my step daughter ordered a jacket. Local guy gave us a god deal, even though he didn't know of you. Surprised, who else would be called a dish pig!
So, we'll see what turns up in 4 weeks.
Cheers
