Help! Busa making knocking/shudder noise!
#1
Hello people!

Has anyone experienced this...

The Busa is warmed up... Riding along, come to a set of traffic lights and stop on the red. Go to take off on the green and as I release the clutch, reach the friction point n give a bit of throttle from first, it makes this knocking/shudder noise... like its banging... sounds like I'm doing damage so I squeeze the clutch, put it back into neutral, release the clutch, then squeeze again, drop it back into first and take off again without any problem.

This doesn't happen all the time... maybe 3-4 times a week.

Can anyone give me some sort of indication of what may be causing this to happen?

I imagine its a clutch problem?

It still happens without acceleration... at one stage it happened on the downshift from third as I slowly let the clutch go... but that only happened once and never did it again(fingers crossed)

I had the same thing happen at about the 23000k mark, I ignored it.

It ended up being 2 loose bolts in the clutch, they came out and destroyed the inside of the case, and mashed springs and alloy shavings ended up all through the motor.

2 weeks before the warrantee ran out.(thank god)

Get it checked out.

have you got a welded clutch BTL??? if so this is your culprit, especially f the plates are worn

otherwise, its anything else thats clutch related, as posted above, loose bolt, worn plates ect

I call mine The Clunk. This is my third Hayabusa, and the first one this has happened to. I have a mate with an '05 as well, and his does it too. I've had the front end pulled apart and still there is The Clunk. He has rebuilt the suspension, and still there is THe Clunk.

Mine only happens when I am starting off and it is one sharp, short CLUNK. It feels like you have left a wheel lock on.

Buggered if I know what it is. Doesn't feel like the clutch as the engine is fully engaged by that stage.

The BTL can cause that

There have been a few cases of the clutch spring support bolts not being Locktited out of the factory and coming loose. This could result in a catastrophic failure, If it was my bike I wouldn't even run the engine again let alone ride it until I'd pulled the clutch cover off and unbolted the clutch spring set bolts to check if the support bolts were ok. If they come loose and rattle around loose, this is the sort of problem that could easily kill you if it locks the rear wheel while you're cranked over in a corner

Pull the cover and check 'em mate
