servicing my '99 fuel-pump
#1
am intending to pull out and service my 'exterior' fuel-pump. I enquired whether there was a kit to be had was told no. Just individually as per needs. Was told the cone shaped filter (looks like oil filter) will be around $47 alone. From those who have serviced theyre pumps, does this filter need replacing or just a clean wud suffice? Manuel says new o ring required. any other tips appreciated. Thx.

When i did mine i just replaced the filter inside (a must Do), but be sure you clean all the little mesh screens 2 of them i think in the pump also the return one you have to pull out, you have a filter screen in the bottom of the tank pull it out and clean it, while you have the pump out pull out your injectors and try and clean the the top of them also, i had mine replaced wth car ones because Suzuki said they don't replace the screens you have to buy new injectors at around $200 + each, i had all mine screens replaced for about $100 ish at an injector place, the fuel pump bolts in the pump are hard to open you will need a real good fitting star screwdrive and grips, good luck hope this helps just take your time

Ok well I just finished the pump and replaced fuel lines while at it. test ride alls well. I want to thank all those heaps of people that offered so many tips and advice here on this topic especially for a novice like me whos never done it before. I really dont know what I would have done without all you such helpful people. I mean thats what this club is all about isnt it? sharing info helping out one another just like the yanks board, not just a bunch of wank posts. Well done Busa club. On to my next project, I'll be sure to consult the board again.

PS. Thx simmo, maybe we should form a copper/silver club?

Well Volv.its prolly the same as me asking for your input(being president) about an organised club ride. What you sow you reap i guess
Quote:Volvi,as being a proclaimed president of the busa club, what is your slant on this?I know you have your own group that you like to ride with,as we all do,but what say you organise a CLUB ride one day?My ears are open to suggestions........... well rod I am sorry to say I didnt see your post requesting my input, frankly I dont read every topic here. I may initially read a topic but doesnt mean I follow it all to the end. frankly that topic is to devisive for me to even touch. Ive been down that road already way too often and if it was that important for you to make contact with me there are many ways other then a mention in some post or other. I just noticed rod my post was a day before yours, so I guess your suggestion of reaping what I sow makes 'alot of sense', besides I dont think that was called for Ive contributed plenty over 6 years here and have asked for nothing in return. I have tried in the past to organise many a regular club ride let alone a 'spannering session' as well as many other things pertaining to the club. So I'll pass on your comment.

Ditto Rocketttttttttttttt
ooops I forgot I'm banned ..................still
It's been near five years now for my bout of defiance

Sadly Volvi when you look at the input and effort of the likes of Richard and DJ your efforts appear very minor in comparison.
Funny thing from my view is my company has been banned from this board for over four years or so now, but when I rebuild an injured members bike free or make donations to the club they are always accepted. The reason I still support the club are due to the likes of Richard and DJ, they give much and expect nought in return, never getting lost in a "TITLE"
Have made a lot of friends and met some great people thru the pages of this forum ................hence the only reason I am still here.

Pete,

If your banned how come youve been able to post for these many years?

If your company is banned how come any promos of your company by others or even by yourself are accepted here? (not to mention a compliment to you by me here on the board for helping another out)

For the record I do much behind the scenes but I dont jump on the board all the time to publicise it. Just ask Richard and DJ.

But lets be honest - you just cant help yourself when an opportunity arises to flame me, but I wont be drawn into a tic tac toe match with you. I wont be responding to you further.

I reckon this problem has been disected quite a bit over the years Volvi especially in tech discussion. I've put my input into that topic based on my own experiences with the problem & I presume they are still on record together with other input from many other members ?

I do get a bit bored with rehashing old threads that have been done to death in the past & are still available for perusal in the appropriate thread history's. But that's just me.

In fact I recall discussing it with you at Vic Harbour about 5 weeks ago. From what you have outlined, it seems that you have successfully corrected the problem yourself & that's to be commended. Now, from your own initiatives, application & recent experience, you will be well placed to advise others should the need arise in the future.

Consequently, all's well that ends well Edited by: rev 01 at: 25/10/05 3:04 pm

Thx for your post rev. and yes you did help me out when we discussed it at the harbour and no doubt gave me some of the confidence to tackle it myself, which I did. however as you know im totally inexperienced just the oil and filter change kind of a guy and I do like doing maintanance for myself just part of what bikes are all about. (I recall that boring book that I never did quite finish 'Zen and the art of motorcycle maintanance'). and help from others no matter how trivial always goes a long way. anyway now no doubt when someone enquires as how to service theyre pump i will be able to add some usefull tips.
