Hello All,
Since I got my new Bus I have clocked up 900 ks. Had it in for it's first service yesterday. The shop gave me my old Kawasaki back as a loaner. (Someone has put a dent in it already) So different to the Bus, I was glad to get it back after the service.
Since I got my Bus I have noticed a change in my behaviour.
My symptoms are: a penchant for accelerating rapidly, a quiet enjoyment for riding at 130 kph, and I also keep looking in the mirrors to see how quick I can make the things in them appear smaller than they are.
Is this normal for new owners of the marque? Does it wear off, or will I find myself going faster? (I have already ordered a higher screen to cut down on the wind blast..not a good sign) Should I add lots of bling so I will ride slower to give people more time to admire my Bus?
Any counselling gratefully accepted.
Bling is good. Won't make you slow down though. Raw accelearation overcomes the motivation to show off bling.
You are more likely to go faster rather than slower.
One of the ways I slowed down a bit was with a 43 tooth sprocket, but still ended up going too fast.
Best way to "limit" yourself to ride slow is to do regular track days and drags, then you don't feel the need to thrash the Busa as much on the road...
2 rules to riding the Busa and having fun IMHO:
1. don't get caught
2. don't hurt yourself or others
"still waiting for my bike"
Yeah head to the strip...it will quench your thirst
These words from a bloke riding a Kwacker who wouldn't go 1 kilometer over the speed limit. Great to see you're enjoying the new bike Busdriver. You were obviously ready for it.
Enjoy

normally youd behave and observe the speed limits or stretch it up by 10-20k over limit all within confines of not losing your license..........that is until.........you come across what 'almost' happened to me yesterday......to my right was a WRX and to my left was a late model Porche and do you think under such circumstances speed sign limits mean anything?....yup your right they mean nothing and you store any sensibilities you may have under the rear hump and man you gun it and dont bother looking at the speedo even if it is 200 in an 80 zone. Now of course this is all hypothetical and even if it did happen the porche trailed behind in frustration whilst the wrx gave up after the first 50m.....and then your honour I awoke from my dream.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Got 1100 kilometers on her now. Went for a ride out the back of Canberra today, into some nice twisties. It was such a nice day, unfortunately everyone else thought so too.
Picnicers, pushbikers, Sunday drivers. The Bus made easy work of overtaking. Just got to remember to hang on tight.
I've ridden this road before on my Kawasaki, but the Bus is more confidence inspiring. I read the arcticle on "Pace". Tried some of the things mentioned in it. Lot more fun doing it as mentioned in the article.
Later All.
