Heated grips
#1
I recently purchased a set of heated grips for the busa and have been told that there is an accessory plug on the standard wiring loom that I can use to connect them to ignition. Had a quick look today without luck. Can anyone tell me where that accessory plug is or even better post a photo.

Dont want to pull the nosecone and then discover it was right in front of me all the time.

Thanks in advance

Blackzook, you can get to the wire without pulling off the nosecone, although it is tricky and not a lot of room to move, but it can be done. You need to take of your rhs fairing panel(as sitting on bike)then look on the rhs of the headlight.
You will see a wire with a plug on it just above? the rhs of the headlight.Im told this wire was there for the european models that ran a parking light.I went to the wreckers and got a wire with the right connecter on it to go into the plug,as the wire that you need to tap into isnt very long so you need to extend it.This wire is fused so no probs running from it.
Ahhh the heated handgrips, one of the best accessories ive ever put on,good luck with it. Phuck its the phantom!

Thanks for the info rocket. Great description.

Simmo, I hate wearing gloves, with my phuked up hand the extra fingers in the gloves always get in the way (general head scratching now I bet).

The heated grips should do the trick for my daily commute from Prospect to Botany at 5am. They are also a larger diameter than the standard grips good for big hands.

Thanks

You gotta stop buying your gloves in Tassie mate. Same goes for the T-shirts with the extra neck hole, the three legged trousers and the matching brother/sister G-strings.... dump 'em all Bruce. Regards.... Rob (Astro)

Many years ago I had the grips powered direct form the battery. Then along came Slong with a posted diagram on what wire to cut into.
It fugen worked. But fuged if I can remember what wire it was???
So ping Slong. Come to the rescue...
Too many sleeps and latte rides for me to remember...

Good luck with the project. You'll never ride without them once you get used to them. (Unless your like Vic fair weather rider of course)

Cheers,

15years ago I had heated grips and muffs on my K100RS.
Made riding in snow just OK.

Its the only thing that puts me off riding bikes in cold weather ..... is being cold , body starts to stiffen up, cramps, cant corner well...... and F**** black ice.

Thanks for the tip Rocket.
Stripped the r/h side fairing panel and foung the plug on the same wiring sheath as the r/h side blinker. Took me about 40 minutes to install with only one blown fuse.

Went for a ride and the heat is really noticable on low and almost too hot for bare hands on high. I just love the large diameter grips, they are a little larger in dia. that the bar ends and perfect for big hands.

The real test will be 5am tomorrow on the trip to Botany.

Haha, sounds like I'm late to help out, good to see you got them going though. They're awesome hey!

I've found something 'extra' for those of us with bad circulation - they're Thermal gloves made by Ansell for Freezer work. A bloke from Sara Lee got me onto them. Fantastic - thin enough that they fit into my gloves.

They're wierd, my hands dont get any warmer, they just don't feel cold.

If anyone else is interested in the wiring diagram, here is the page I made way back yonkers:
Wiring Diagram/Guide
