Wow, just 36,000 kays and I need to replace my front brake discs. Even more disturbing was the friend-of-a-friend story about a Hayabusa-mounted courier who went through two sets in a year! Anyone else suffering from premature front disc warpage and any recommendations for aftermarket replacements that can cope with 290kg divided six-pot calipers?
Stretch
What was that premature thing you were suffering with Rev???
Oh yeh, your warpage on your discs. Has Awsome discs finished with the machining, nickel plating, red anodising, full floating and jewel encrusting of your discs yet? :"> Warped my old 99 model discs at about 8000 klms. Since then I'm a bit more carefull pulling the barge up. The 2002 model has done over 30000 klms and the discs are still not too bad.
Cheers, Phil. Riding with a warped sense of humour and not hibernating.
Ive heard some bad stories bout awesome discs and frankly i wouldnt take my pushie there to get the brakes done.
Man, sounds like the perfect excuse to get some of those wave discs (made by Braking methinks).
So where would you go Rocket Man??? Share your knowledge with the board.
Cheers, Phil. Riding not talking.
Well if i was getting my discs machined or straightened, ide go to bob martin engineering in ferntree gully.Same goes with frame straightening or any sort of frame modifications.Ask for ted or bob and tell them rocket sent you!
Gold anodising if you don't mind GDY ! Thanks for the tip RocketMan, bit late now That's the trouble when you have to farm work out, who do you trust ?

Sorry Rev ive made a mistake! Its planet discs who are no good, not awesome.Apparently the guy who owns planet discs is the father of the guy who owns awesome discs and he has learnt by his dads mistakes,so dont feel so bad.
36,000?? Its not a car you know. 36,000 is good.
I had just been told that my warped discs was from using a brake lock or something. Why do they warp under general braking? Heat? Are they built too thin?
Thanks guys and gals. I checked out those wave discs and figured it would be a backwards step. The guys at Suzuki say the Busa discs are the same on the GSX600 and Gixxer 1000 so my guess is that they haven't bothered to strengthen them for the significant weight increase. The wave discs look less likely to be able to cope with the forces required to haul up big bike + big guts on it. I'm told they're beaut for motorcross because they don't clag up with dirt and stuff and my guess is they're beaut for not much more. Anyway, Dave at Action in Wentworth Ave Sydney recommends EBC discs. They're imported by Wayne Gardner Enterprises, which I'm not sure is a huge recommendation, but they're cheaper ($400 each) and Dave says they're stronger. With all due respect GDYUP, I'll be buggered if I'm going to ride around like an old man for the sake of inferior brake discs!
Stretch
Good for you stretch. Keep in mind I am an old man!
Give me a Busa (Not mine) and 5 minutes and I'll warp the discs. (There crap) Just my 2c worth.
Cheers,Phil. Riding not warping.
Thanks Rocket/GDY I feel a whole lot better now
Well, those brillent EBC discs lasted all of 1000 kays on a trip to Melbourne. The distributor accused me of abusing them on the racetrack so it's back to the old OEMs for me.
