Clutch
#1
Picked up an 01 busa yesterday with 26,000 on the clock, have ridden it around all day today and have noticed something weird when I am stationary at the lights. If I leave the bike in first gear and sit there holding the clutch lever in I get this odd knocking feeling through the handlebars. It seems to be random though.

I've also noticed that when the bike is in neutral and I don't have the clutch lever pulled in there's a noise coming from the engine that goes away if I engage the clutch lever. It's not a very loud noise but it's there.

Is this symptomatic of something bad with the clutch or is it just something busas do?

Yeah mine does that too. Ithink its a suzuki thing. The old GSX motors used to have really noisy clutches also.Doesnt seem to affect the running of the bike though????

G'day
I think it is called something like gear rollover, and it is caused by bits and pieces rolling over and thumping around at low speed in the gearbox. Using clutch or revving makes it disappear at least temporarily...

That clutch released noise problem got fixed on the 2002 model. Go to a suzuki parts dealer and have a look at his microfische, the inner fibre plate and a cone shaped washer and another washer have been changed from 2001 to 2002 models. Welding solid the back torque limiter is also a good thing if you want to take the slop out.

That sounds like it Kev,its a real mechanical rumble at idle and you can feel it through the bars.If you give it a slight rev it goes and then comes back at idle, seems worse when the engine is hot.So the question is how do you fix it or do you just live with it?

G'day
I consider it a part of the animal and live with it.
It is definitely noisy, my good lady even comments when we are at the lights and stationary...

Yeah thats what i thought Kev.The suzies have always had a mechanically noisy motor, not as smooth as my VFR, but i can live with it to have all that power.
