Air box mod?

OK, where did it go?
Is it necessary to destroy the flapper to get it out?

No you dont have to destroy the flap to get it out.Go to Tech Discussion page 3, unrestricting the bus.

Well, I ended up cutting out the centre section, and of course the flap falls out! Cheers and thanks

I don't know if I did the mod the "correct" way. I cut out the floor of the airbox inside the small lip that locates the inside edge of the air filter.
I can get some photos if anyone wants.
I'm sure I saw photos in a thread once but the "unrestricting the Bus" thread doesn't have them.

Yes. I've now got a 4:1 exhaust and the airbox mod, plus a few of the minor ones, PAIR system, TRE etc.
So I've just now got a few little bits to tidy up, such as re-gluing the foam back onto the airbox and it slips back in. Then I'd like to do a butterfly balance (but need to wait for the carbtune gauges). Then it should be ready for another tune up for drags starting mid September!

Good stuff, as it will open a can of worms

Think that can has already been opened.

Well, I've got one, so hopefully I can get it set up now for HUGE torque spread from just off idle to red line!! Is that asking too much?

Bear I have played around heaps with mine a couple of years ago with my pc2 and the bike is going great now but it took heaps of playing around with, if you want a starting point map I can try and copy mine for you, have you taken it for a test run since cutting out the airbox.
Cheers Robert

No, I haven't put it back together yet as I've ordered the carbtune gauges, so might as well get the throttle bodies synchronised and then put it all back together. I have had it dynoed with the new exhaust and then adjusted by FF1 so it's already well on the way! I guess it will be another week yet before I am ready to run it.
Then I'll book in for a tune on the dyno.

Don,t expect too much at the drags straight away.I went backwards with a best of 10.5.The bike is totally different to ride and wants to lift by 6k with a full tank and leaning forward.Throttle feel to match the clutch slip all have to be relearnt.I,m now of the belief that anything above standard busa power needs to be on a lowered bike to acheive lower ET,s.
