Then how about the roller cam chain conversion with the OEM tensioner. Will that end in tears as well ? Should work good with the oil pressure bumped up

But use a new oem tensioner, i like the oem more than the manual for most applications , but all out race engines with high engine acceleration rates, high spring rates and big cams may be better off with the manual.
