How do you find that Ace rear tyre holder? I purchased the same and it moved/slipped on me. I had a friend stitch a strap across the top to wrap around the tyre so there is no way it can slip now. With just that one strap now the bike is totally secured.

Mine slipped too!
Thats why i put the two extra tie downs on - gonna make some small block to chock the back wheel and stop it skidding sideways.
Scared the shit out out of me when I looked in the mirror and saw it laying over!
The strap is a great idea - velcro?

maybe if the strapps are crossed through the wheel you wont get movement

This is my "modified" ace tyre down.
clocked up 1000km with this, terrentian rain, throwing thru corners on the trailer, this was the only strap holding down the busa. Never looked like moving.

   

we had a bit of a play with this, the D-clips are over the tyre so they wont rub on the wheel, It sits perfect for a 190 tyre, but has sufficient play for varying sizes.

The only thing that does worry me is there is no back-up, if a tiedown loop bolt snaps etc. A light tiedown over the bars is a good addition.

Might want to loosen front straps and just strap them down in the morning before you leave save the forks from being compressed for so long

i never did understand pulling the front down killing the fork seals ,i generally pull the bike down from the swing arm ,and from left to right never had a bike fall,

Thanks guys, appreciate the all the help and advice - the forum is an incredible source of advice and experience. Will be modifying the rear wheel tie down, and I learned the hard way with the front ones after rooting the seals on the road bike. But I'm in pretty good shape for tomorrow!
