I was doing a quick blast to Broome for the weekend. 150 km from Broome at about $1.60 the bike died as if the engine kill switch was switched on.I thought that was the issue as I was stretching standing on the pegs.
Engine check comes up no sound of fuel pump priming.and the temp gauge goes straight to red. this is after the bike has cooled.have been rescued by RAC and in Broome.
Was blasting for 900 kms before this occurred and no issues.
Running K&N filer/ hot bodies slash cut and heated gear outlet.
Electrics seem fine.
Can anybody guess what's occurred. thanks.

ignition problem? the gauge going to red and the engine check light on is the typical display when you first key on, so if the bike cut out like you'd
thought the kill switch was flicked it's much the same as if you turned the ignition off with the key.
just guessing. can you start the bike at all?

Can't start the bike.checked side stand switch.maybe need to check fuses. the power let heated gear outlet can draw 110 w.but it was not switched on at that time.
The dash lights come on and stay on with check being displayed.

try all your fuses including the one at the starter relay(although i don't think the dash powers up with it gone )
then if they test ok just see if the ecu connectors are properly plugged in, its the same warning i see when the ecu is out of the bike
i suspect the ign fuse first
sidestand and tos are also good suggestions and potential problems

ive had the bike cut out when i was half way through a set of twisties, turned out to be my tos, and another time over took a couple of cars only to completely lose power ,just like it was turned off ,turned out to be the fuel pump fuse.

Storm I just remembered I had a similar issue ages ago and it was (don't know what it's called - clutch lock-out wire I think?) but on your left bar switch block you have the two visible external wire connections. I think it should have a red plastic sleeve over it.
The connection on mine was loose and bike would not start.....but everything appeared normal. It took me HOURS to find out it was that.
When I tried to hit the ignition button it was like the battery was just draining and would not fire the bike. Make sure the connections are good.
Give me a call if you want and we can troubleshoot over the phone 0430 242 914.

Thanks for that.the bike is in the RAC yard and will check that and eliminate issues one by one.don't want some unauthorized mechanic screwing up my warranty given that the bike is 6 months old.
Will check and give you a call if I need to. Much appreciated.

No probs. When mine played up Rod had to come out and save me. Murphy's law though it started just as he was driving into the street, but we turned it off and again.....nothing. We checked the battery and side-stand switch and whatever else but after about 5 more attempts it all of a sudden came alive again.
Got it home and the next morning....nothing. I spent the entire weekend on it, only to find out it was that one friggin connection. GenII clutch obviously needs to be pulled in to start....and if there is no signal to the ecu.....no start.

Those clutch wires may explain why it won't kick over, but they wouldn't explain why it just died.
Have checked fuses and TOC?

Well the bike is with the RAC assessor who I think has no clue about busas .as the bike is under warranty he is going to call Suzuki blah blah blah.
I have left it in the care of the universe and flow with what ever occurs.
