Wheel bearings
#1
Today i went to put new discs on the front of my bus and was surprised to find the front wheel wobbly on the axle, closer inspection revealed wheel bearings were shot,82,000kms.
When i removed the bearings i found they had been shot for a while and both bearings the grease was gone and the bearing cage was torn apart and the plastic seal was melting.
Anyone want to save themselves trouble probably should just change the bearings about 60,000kms i reckon.
Will be doing the back ones as well.

I'd have thought mileage would depend on circumstances.
How/where you use it, clean it, maintain it.

How bad/work were they?
Didn't show up at last service or routine checks?

A good topic to bring up and checking.

Lucky you found the problem now Greeny , did you have any handling issues coming back from the Island ?

High pressure cleaners , Gerni's etc can push water past the seals.

I have never used a high pressure cleaner to clean only bucket of warm soapy water and elbow power.
The bearings have no seals on the inside of the wheel which would allow the grease out into the centre of the wheel, the new ones are sealed both sides.
I did not think there was handling problems coming back or going down.
