Nice one Cas
Guys this file is 14mb so not really Dial-Up friendly. Some more track side images with some complete runs would be nice but otherwise a good watch. Shayne <i></i>

Yes Bruce, I see you have made it to another promo, we will have to start calling you Alex if it keeps up.
You and Alex seem to be in every photo shoot or promo for bikes at WSID, maybe you missed your calling??? Male models perhaps??????? <i></i>

Is that why you put mirrors on the new bike so you can keep an eye on the old dudes on gold ones.
Like I said to you Wednesday Leonard, next time we line up together have a look in front and at the end of the race you can give me some tips on my riding style. That video is GREAT!
Good stuff Dave. Bruce, we really gotta think about your ET's. Doing 1.6 and 1.7 60 footers is meant to result in low 10's if not 9's. Any ideas yet? Are you aware whether you're tucking in well (elbows, feet, etc?). We only see your first half of the run and you seem okay then, but when you're 300m away doing 200kph+ it's hard to tell... It's worth seeing Leonard launch. His head is way far ahead (to put weight over the nose) and he lets his legs hang right back (his new bike even has footpegs for launching), possibly to put more weight over the rear tyre.
I tried it once that way and it felt good, easy to control, but then had to back off the throttle because I couldn't bring my leg forward enough to change gears without risking pulling on the handlebars too much/unevenly (risky because my front wheel was about 5 or 10cm off the ground). Still, it baffles me why your bike seems to "slow down"... "good times spent with friends, and nothing else matters..."<i></i>

Bruce, Don't get too far in front or I won't be able too check out your riding style!

Have you been taking down notes Pan!
Bruce not a bad launch there, about the right amount of air under your tyre. It does look like there is still air between you and the tank and your helmet and the screen though, more forward the better, less prone to wheelie and harder again you can launch. It would have been good to have some footage of what you are doing down the other end of track, maybe next time. Your body position should be pretty much set by the time you hit second gear, fully tucked all the way! What gearing are you running, might have to be -1/+2 front/rear if its not already and the bike feels like it isn't accelerating as hard. How do your short times compare? Whats this I here about a Slick? As Pan said some time its worthy having a breather and watching the fast boys do there thing you never know what you might pick up! Hey Shayne,
Yeah I know I should be further forward but thats not the main problem mid track on seems to be the issue. Im running stock gearing at the moment but have run 43 and then -1 on the front both were slower with a propensity to lift the front too much. Have not thought about 38 on the rear but will buy one tomorrow and give it a try. At the moment I change into fourth just before the line so the lower gearing may help. I got a new qualifying slick for the right price to have a bit of fun with and am really impressed with it. Given a bit of heat it grips really well and is much cheaper than a road tyre. It helps that I live near the creek so I can ride it down with the slick fitted without too much risk of being caught. Sorry mate for sounding like I was harpng!!!
When I get down there again we can swap bikes and see if its not something with the way yours is making the power. Probably wouldnt go the 38, I should have said 16/42, the 43 and even the 42 might be too much and you may need to go the 41. Starts getting expensive playing with gearing. Thats were handy if all your mates have a couple of different ones each to hand around to try, that is if you have stock wheels. Are you saying you ran 16/43 or 17/43, you might want to try 17/43 now that you are getting off the line better. The slick is a great idea for the money, looks like it needed a bit to warm up though in the video! Shayne <i>Edited by: aBUSa at: 8/2/06 1:02 am </i> |
