I got myself a set of Braketech rotors from Kawasuki and had only used them cruzing around towen and at the drags over the last couple of weeks. Last week a member of this forum called to ask what I though of them and I told him that I couldnt really comment as they hadnt had time to bed in or been used in anger. I did comment that they rattle like a Ducati dry clutch and were annoying around town.
Well yesterday I went for a 500k plus run with the guys from Perth Street Bikes, we rode through the southwest (WA) on some of the best roads I have seen in Australia 90% - of that distance was twisty.
My bike has had braided lines and EBC pads for about the last 2 years and I thought the brakes were pretty good. After about 10k's the pads had settled in and I have to say that the Braketech front rotors made a huge difference both initial bite and feel were a big improvement over stock.
Ray you have no idea how it burns me to say that you and Glen were right the Braketech rotors are a big improvement over stock.

OOOOuuWCH Bruce that must hurt mate, did i sling u enough $$? looks like it for the wrap the rotors got. Really Bruce they do work well, and if u use decent pads they will work even better, i put them to good use today at E/C the GSXR ride day,

I've been extolling the virtues of the brake tech units since I put them on. Awesome rotors. Next is how much for the ceramic rotors? Are they available yet? Spermbank told me they were even better than the ductile iron! how the f*** could they be? How much?

I don't know how many blokes in here have tested brake tech rotors..........I know I have.....
I rode Ray's bike @ Jindy last year & his brake set up was LIGHT YEARS ahead of the standard busa combination
The stock busa brakes (as delivered new) are only adequate but deteriorate over a surprising short amount of time (IMHO).
One area of concern is the attach points between the carrier & disc itself. Problem is, if you are a weekend warrior, you don't notice the degradation around town until you really need to stop in a hurry & I've seen heaps of blokes who have really really needed to stop in a hurry
The busa maintenance manual specifies that the rubber brake lines be changed every 2 years...........how many owners follow that advice Do yourselves a favour & fit braideds instead when the 2 years are up
There's a lot of money spent on go fast stuff, bling etc but the priorities are all wrong. Fix your brakes first & leave the rest till later.
I have seen photo's of turbo busas who's owners have left the rubber brake lines on............the eternal optimists <i></i>
On the brakes front I have had good results with Ray's stop quickly bits.
A while ago I got a radial Brembo master cylinder and installed it with a set of braided lines. Once all the tricks in the book had been completed to bleed the lines the brakes in the front end are awesome. I have had no brake issues and my riding is now predominantly two up.
Ray, you have a PM regarding the rotors because I know I'm going to warp those suckers next. Regards

The gods of good fortune were smiling on me this morning. My shitbox Volkswagen ute had thrown a front CV so I'm riding the bike the 25ks to work along country roads until its fixed.
This morning at 5:30am I'm cruzing in at about 160klm when skippy and his mates hop out in front of me. They are western greys and nearly as tall as me. I slammed on the brakes and of course in a panic locked the front for a split second, eased it off - back on em and actually did my first ever stoppie at over 100klm - stopped only a couple of mtrs from the silly bastards. You could almost hear them laughing as they stared at me for a second then casually hopped away.
I have no doubt that I would either have hit the hairy jumpers or dropped the bike with the previous stock discs. The feel with the Braketec's IS that much better. Bruce
