Wierd problem
#1
I have another weird prob on my 02 Bus.
I get a sort of click/twist/grind sort of feel through the footpegs when riding usually when accelerating. Its like something is twisting or slightly loose and moving a few mm. Only does it for a second or 2.
It can be one peg or the other side as well. Crazy.
But the pegs are connected to the frame so it has me beat.
Its almost like a tight link in the chain but the chain an sprockets weren't done that long ago.
Before I go over every bolt on the bike I thought I would ask in case someone has a quick fix or has had a similar issue...

all the obvious bolts now checked..nothing loose.

Damn, thought the thongs would work!

Seriously, If you have a rear stand you trust, sit the bike up on it and run the bike through the gears while you sit on it , you might be able to figure it out that way.

Cush drive? How old is the chain sporket combo?

Cush drives were done not long ago too.
Chain and sprockets were done by Pitstop Pete a few yrs back.
I don't ride that much so I reckon they are good.
I don't think it would show up on stand as only seems to do it under load

If ur feeling it in the foot pegs & under load my money is on the chain & sprockets regardless of how old they are .

I think you may be right Mark. I will try and spin the back wheel and see what I can see.
It seems the only real logical thing left.
It does feel like that tight link creaking sort of effect

A bent output shaft will have the same symptoms.

Just change that.Coolsmiley

If you want a list of stuff to check you will get one,(but it wont be for easy to access parts) I would rather you diagnosed it further then just taking pot shots at what could be wrong.

Rod your help would be handy but not for pushing but for listening and a 2nd opinion.Roll

Option 2 is put it up on a dyno.

Ar shit.
I thought that when I posted..."mmm was it a little while back or a long while back...when did Pete move up north?"
How many yrs back u reckon Pete?
Anyway I don't do more than 5,000 a yr I reckon.
BUT I reckon that's what it is. A tight link.

I do oil it...before every ride..but I don't always go right round...I figure it will spread when the wheel spins...Lol

Thanks for all your help fellas.
Now that Pete has refreshed my aging memory I am sure it will be either a dry link or chain needing replacement.
:-)

I will post back if I find anything.

Mate that is very poor chain matainence, don't make me send the chain Police around there Lol3 (on a cold chain it will filck off before you get to the corner deli (er Milk bar) especially if it has not covered the whole chain.

My copper/silver 99er has 45k on the clock & is on original chain & sprockets & still like new with plenty of adjustment left, no bad tight spots, the rear sprocket's good & when I had the cases done by Victor Suzuki at 32,000 I am sure he would have told me if the front sprocket was F*cked.

I have always used shell advanced chain lube & my rule is the first bit of shiny on the rollers ya lube the F*cker.

I do it on rear stand in 1st with motor running preferably when chain is warm. (keep hands well away from chain & sprocket & count your fingers before & after)

The can has a thin tube on the nozzle so hands are well WELL away from chain & I still have all my pinkies Pi_thumbsup

It goes shiny quicker in wet weather riding so if you do it every 1,000 kms or so you could be wrecking your chain/spockets Pi_tongue

Maybe it is my gentle style of riding Ghastly
Isn't it Ironic that my Favourite Stretch of Tarmac is called C.O.P. Eek
