Battery buggered
#1
Dammit. I've done pretty well with my battery, 5 years, 5 cold Canberra winters, communte pretty much every day...

Today, she finally gave up.

I need to get a battery at lunchtime, does anyone have a good suggestion? Also..... I've had three busas and never had to change a battery on one..... any suggestions (I'm so embarassed Embarassed ). I know where it is and I've changed the battery on the $50 car a few times, anything that might trip up a new player?

Cheers

no biggie just disconnect the terminals and I recommend you only get the replacement OEM Yuasa battery. you may have to fill with acid if retailer didnt do it for you and need to let it stand to charge then install and go for a run. careful not to charge the battery with a car charger before install, it could cook the battery, only trickle charges are recommended.

Thanks Volvi, that's exactly what I'm after. I just spoke to my mechanic and he said to go home and check the terminals first, because he checked the charge a week ago when it was serviced and he thought the battery was fine. I was given two options at the shop I just rang, and the Yuasa was one of them. I'll check the terminal, recharge the battery and if its still buggered, I'll go buy the Yuasa.

All I know is SHE NO GO this morning.

I'm sure everyone is aware of this . . .but . . .

allways disconnect the -ve terminal first. (for obvious reasons)

allway re-connect the negative terminal last. (for obvious reasons)

Obvious reason: incase not so obvious for new players.
When you disconnect the -ve terminal first. If you touch the frame or anything metal on the bike with the spanner/screw driver. It wont short.

Once the negative has been disconnected. When you disconnect the +ve. If you touch the frame or anything metal on the bike with the spanner/screw driver. It wont short because with the -ve disconnected, the circuit wont be completed.
