I am after a bit of info guys....I know these "smart" TRE's smooth out the rough idle that was experienced with the standard TRE (becuase they autodetect neutral), but do they affect idle when you are in gear with the clutch pulled in??? (like when you are sitting at lights ready to launch on green). Any feedback is appreciated. Also, has anyone out there got the smart TRE from Phuzzy motorsports in the USA (currently listed on Ebay...looks to be a neater unit than the rest)???

Where and how do you get the ECU re flashed? Does it remap all gears properly or does it trick it into thinking it is in 5th gear like the TRE? How much does it cost? Cheers Rob
I've spoken to a few blokes who I consider to be reasonably intelligent when it comes to all things motorbike, and ECU reflash is a crude/ poor mans power commander. Any response to this (I'm interested in all sides of the argument). By the way...it's an '03 model.

whats "reasonably inteligent" to one person may not be to another

Last time you asked the question, you didnt bother to reply to the post.Leigh
PS, i would call ECU REFLASHING a smartmans power commander as it does so much more.
Some questions for you,
1) do these people know what relashing can do?
2) Have they ever reflashed a busa ecu?
3) Are they selling power commanders?

Getting ready to make some noise.
I know what setup i prefer to ride around with,my pc3 couldnt give me the on off throttle smoothness the ecu flashing can.Let alone the part throttle torque.
This may be the "new" Which oil is best debate!
TRE = telling the ECU the bike is in 5h all of the time plug and play $100+
SMART TRE= telling the ecu the bike is in 5th all of the time EXCEPT for neutral thus giving a better idle plug and play $100+
Modded GPS(Gear Position Sensor)= modified gear position sensor that tells the ECU the bike the correct gear EXCEPT for 6h which it tells the ECU is 5th. You must remove the clutch hub to install
Boost By Smith DeRestrictor= same as Modded GPS but it is plug and play $26
Reflashing the ECU= the most EFFICIENT solution. Boost by Smith and some others sell the harness(or use the schematic above) or pay some one $30 to $100 to do it for you.
Now here's the REAL question:
Do you really need to top out your bike?
I have run 192MPH with the Ivans T.R.E.
I just finished buying 5(yes I said 5) Boost by Smith DeRistrictors, one for the HeavyBus, One for my GSXR750 and 3 for the guys going to the Texas Mile with us in October. I think this is a good useable product and plan to use it LandSpeed Racing IF I don't have the chance to reflash my ECU before October.
So if you want to top out your Bike Go for what fits your wallet and mechanical expertise

Keep ya hair on grasshopper...only repeating what I've been told...sorry I'm not the all-knowing, all-conquering genius that you apparantly are. At least now I have a goal to attain...to be as smart as you.
And Lee8sec - sorry if I didn't reply to your last post (I do remember it), but I'm not rushing into anything...I'm trying to gather as much info as possible before I act.
C CJ03 and ohdear, could you both please keep your replies based around the issue rather than personal comments. This is a topic that provokes much debate (as does the 'which oil to use' and 'is Mr Sheen the be-all and end-all'). Regardless of opinion, you are both on the same team.

If you want to know, ask & compare info, but don't come and ask & say that others think its a poormans power commander & they know what there saying, as they obviously dont. By that statement it makes it look like you have made up your mind anyway.
Iam not doing them anymore as i dont have a bench reflash harness, contact "ohdear" for mail reflashes. Leigh
PS, its nothing like the oil or mr sheen debate
