Perfect one side …

Tongue
a few scratches on the other.

I rode down to Sydney on Friday and decided to visit some friends in Batemans Bay so headed south on Saturday. As it was only a short ride I took the opportunity for some sight seeing and detoured over the Macquarie Pass and then back to the Princess Highway via Kangaroo Valley. I followed several cars down the mountain to Fitzroy Falls and nearing the bottom I overtook two cars, we were all travelling at approximately 80 kph. I had to brake hard to slow down enough to pull in behind the next car and as I did so the bike suddenly slipped from under me and skidded on the right hand side faring into the bushes on the side of the road. I also slid for several meters on my arse watching the front wheel of the car I had just overtaken spinning next to my head, fortunately I was wearing a full set of leathers and as a consequence only bruised the tip of my finger. Although I saw nothing I assume I must of hit a patch of gravel on the road, I can think of no other reason for the loss of control.

Yeah I'm fine and just so glad I was wearing a full set of leathers, if it wasn't for them I reckon I would have ground my left cheek down to the bone. Lucky on many accounts, my helmet didnâ€t touch the ground so I had a snakeâ€s eye view of the whole thing as I happened in slow-mo, my laptop was in the Ventura bags its OK, and only damaged the right hand side fairing and muffler, just about everything else is unscathed. Insurance should cover it, didnâ€t report it to the police although I wasn‘t doing anything wrong, not even riding recklessly, do you have to report an accident to make a claim ?

Glad your ok Steve
thought you handed in your licence?
Hope the insurance dont kick up a stink over not reporting it to the cops. Down in NSW you crash you get fined even if your the ony person involved lucky you were able to ride away.
Just another cred scare for ya Lol3

Good to see your OK Steve probably the best out come for your low side
minimal damage.Get in touch with your insurance asap you should not need a incident report number for them but if you do you only get 24hrs to report it to the law or they can slap you with a $1000 fine if you fail to do this also if you have to go there tell them a tree branch fell in front of you got that line from a ex cop.(Way to late)
Neg Driving charge 3 points +$324 Fine

Steve,

Glad to hear you are OK and minimum damage to the Busa.

Can you let us know if your insurance co needed an incident number or if it wasn't necessary to report it to the police?

Just to clarify on the Neg driving, by practice, (not just in NSW I also heard of this in the US when people were sliding off snow covered and icy roads) a single vehicle accident is primea facia evidence of neg driving.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure I saw you on the way up to Macquarie Pass, I was on a Black/Grey '06 heading down when i saw a Busa your colours on the way up. Was damp in places alright.

Glad you're okay.

Im sorry to hear it man, thank god it was only just that!

WHen police came to my one, i ended getting a fine for
' failure to have full control of the vehicle'

I was like NO SHIT DICKHEAD i CAME OFF MY BIKE!!!

Those were exact words by the way, they didnt get mad back because
i was just brought back to life in the back of the ambo lol.
Then the ambo lady told the police to leave me alone til i was in
a stable condition.
Sorry to jack the thread abit.

Point is, it wasnt your fault at all, road conditions, yet they might
sting you with that fine...

G'day
Glad you are OK...for the insurance claim, you answer "no, the police were not called, I didn't think the damage was expensive/severe enough and there were no injuries". And when/if they query that statement against the cost of repairs, the answer is "I'm not an auto repair specialist, I just did my best at the time, it wasn't necessary to tow it away" or similar.
Yes, as I understand it, the crash will earn you a neg driving charge, because as a copper (the same bloke who gave me the above lines) once explained to me: who else can you blame for the crash?
And I'd be looking for diesel fuel on the road perhaps.
Regards
Kevin
