Luggage Rack & Bag
#1
Hi folks,

Keen to do a week's travelling on my K8.

Any ideas on best way to carry some gear.

Backpack?

Bag strapped to rear seat using the four alloy pegs?

Fit a frame with gear sack type bag?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Well mate, the ventura rack and bag combo seem to be the most popular for the longer trips.
A seat bag or tank bag or both will do for shorter ones.

Many thanks Busgo.

Does the rack go on and off without damaging the paintwork?

I really only want to be able to carry luggage for a 'one off' trip. I rarely go away for more than an overnighter and use a small backpack for that.

The rack goes on and off with no real issues and shouldn't have any issues with marks to the body work.

If most of your riding is overnighters well maybe go with Busgo suggestion and use a seat bag with a tank bag, can highly recommend the Bagster Tank bag and Cover. The tank bag would also make do for your overnighters as well.

I see your in WA what part ?? there is a few of us getting together in May on the 5th for a coffee if your interested and want to meet some more of the boys, one of the guys has just brought an 08 that he had a rack fitted to if you want to have a look, thats if he hasn't taken it off since he got home.

The rack goes on and off in a few minutes with no issues unless you overload it and the brackets can't take the weight.
Normally not a problem.

Hey Need,

If you're looking to do a 1 off, I bought a set of oxford soft paniers that have velcro straps that hook up under the pillion seat/hump. holds about 30-45lts in the pair (expandable) and only about $100. you will need to run duct tape on the tail under them to save your paint but all comes off no worry. Keep your CoG lower than a rack also. My wife and I run both racks and panniers when we go on longer trips.

Ventura & Dryrider.
Unfortunately, this 300HP turbo job ended up in a drunk woman driver's passenger door.

You know I am no longer mentally or physically capable of such a task due to the frontal cerebral brain injury and the 2 x fractured vertabrae.
Best ya get back to building Australia's Fastest Busa Drag Bike for the "Mystery Rider" who's identity you are not at liberty to disclose. I'm sure Bigfoot will attempt to eat his dust one day.

I done a trip with my girl over Easter and made my own rack for the Busa, I even crash it in a ditch and the blackberry bush stopped my bike from falling further. It took four people to pullit out use the rack i built, there was only stratches to the rack and no damage to the rear end.

Pics below show how loaded she was
