Exhaust Restriction
#1
I've done a search but can't get a conclusive answer. I will be getting a hayabusa within a few weeks. It's a 2003 with stock exhaust system and stock pipes.
Does anyone know where the greatest restriction lies? Ie is it the stock pipes, the mid-pipes or the headers? Eventually I'll be looking at getting a 4 to 1 on it, but money will be tight for the next few months.

Beer

Changing the pipes would be a nice way to start, they usually come with the mid pipe.

The GEN 1 mid pipes and mufflers are all restricted with baffles.
A nice set of Staintune stainless cans with the removeable baffles taken out are good to open up the mufflers and give a nice note but they are not the lightest you can get.

Let me know when u are after a 4 in 1. I sell TiForce systems, they weigh in at approx 4.8 kgs for the Gen1, and u get approx 10+ rwhp.

Reading some of the US site and they seam to think the biggest restriction is in the headers?

Thanks for all the info, looks like I've got a lot of saving to do and will just get a full 4 to 1 system.

What happened on the 12 on the avatar????

I have a full tri oval yoshi with carbon can but it is wondering somewhere between united states and greece!!If it appears here i will let you know!

You will find by fitting a full yoshi that it comes even in performace with a stock 12(some times better on drag racing) on power.

PAAAAAAANNN!!! How do you say "καλοριζικο"??????

10kg loss is like gaining at least 3ft/lbs from idle to redline and then when the bikes tuned it,ll go from around 94 ft/lbs to around 99-100ft/lbs with the pipe.So to look at it slightly differently, gaining 8-9 effective ft/lbs is like riding the bike at wide open throttle with 24-27kg off the bike.At part throttle you,ll only notice the weight loss.Horsepower with small airbox mod, filter, pipe, tuned approx from 155 to 168-170.

Nice, that's roughly my goal in power figures. My current ZX12R went from 158 to 164 with slipon, PC3 and K&N. Considering the busa's torque advantage and bottom end, I'll be pretty happy Very Happy

Hey Vasilli, it means "lucky" according to my Greek English Dictionary.
