Thanks men, what is the preference in sprockets these days
Alloy or steel? Let me know your thoughts, please. Cheers, Kawasuki

Me Steel, how long would it take cheesecake torque to shred an aluminium sprocket. Not long methinks.

I have always used alloy I have done around 40000 and still on my second Titan Tough alloy sprocket. Cheers,

I'd prefer Steel , depends on how they are manufactured Ray. Most I have seen are pretty lousy ie pressed / sheared / notched. So it effects the way in which the chain engages the teeth.
I have briefly used a Sprocket Specialists alloy rear sprocket on the salt 2 years ago --- loaned it off Hawkwind ( thanks again ) when I ran out of gearing options ( as I always do and did again this year too ). Beautifully made sprocket and no doubt CNC milled, prob made from 7075T6 which is strong / hard ally alloy - age hardened. They werent cheap. Turbo hayabusa's eat alloy rear sprockets for breakfast I hear!!!! no matter what alloy!!! C-45 is another designation for what most engineers in OZ refer to as K1045..... basically 0.45% carbon content.

Thanks for that Gazza, how much was the Sprocket Spec. price tag as I am about to order off them (bulk), or try to get my own sprockets made up. Its all a matter of $$ and quality and I have to be sure either way i go. Cheers,
Kawasuki

Kawasiki I cannot remember what the sprocket spec cost as I imported a few of them in with other stuff , I am having some one off front and rear sprockets being made now by John Tittman racing in Qld all steel, when I get them I let you know what quality they are
