Water Injection
#1
My cousin put a water injection system on his Hayabusa. He reckons it is really good stuff. What do you guys think of it?

Thanks Frank

Keeps the engine clean, there will be no carbon on the piston tops or on the back of the intake valve,
i use it as anti detonation insurance above 6 psi boost , not sure i would spend the $300 for a non turbo bike.

Maj, $300 who's that from or is it one you've made up yourself?.

I am thinking of removing the IC and going water Inj.
Would you recomend it at around 25#.

Made myself,
Stainless tank in place of the right ram air tube , drill and fit a prefabed piece on the up pipe, pressure switch ,shut off solenoid from cooling mist www.coolingmist.com/detai...spx?pid=11
Using push connectors for most of the plumbing and nylon tubing.
pump from all gear direct allgeardirect.com/catalog...7779300da3

If you have a not too restrictive IC it should be better, i wouldn't rely on water, jets block, water runs out. ok to sneak a couple of psi in .
Can you run c16 without the IC at 25psi

My cuz go it from the Australian Coolingmist site.
Look under motor bike kits.

It is www.CoolingPerformance.com
Some interesting reading on this site.

I think i might get one. Cleaner internals and more performance with the hot months on the way.

Thanks,
Frank.

More performance in some conditions, same performance in some ,and less performance in some conditions.
Don't think you are going to gain much performance unless your detonating already.
Water is ok on turbo's but steam displaces air making less efficant cylinder filling so a cooler wetter cylinder of air most times nets 0 hp but less chance of detonation
Intercooling makes the air more dense so your efficancy increases IF the cooler is sized correctly,

Yea its Turbo.
Doing some reaserch on Water Injection suggests that very little water enters the combustion chamber each stroke, as the piston is moving so fast, and only a fraction of air is displaced. Less than we (me included) think.
The atomised water will also dramatically cool the intake temps down (apparantly more than an intercooler.)

Anyway... I have bought a kit and am going to give it ago. Only 450 odd bux for a complete kit. So if doesnt work bummer, if it does money well spent. At least I get the detonation insurance.

Wish me luck, ill keep you posted.
Anyone know where I can get some methanol.

For the Turbo - It has a Garett system on, American. Run only 6psi. Maybe 9psi with the water injection.
I dont have a digital camera yet, only a mobile phone . I will take some pics for you and put them up. It may not look so good though. So dont hold your breath.
For the WI kit. I ordered the Turbo Busa kit. Will take pics too and see what if they turn out.
