Did anyone watch it tonight on SBS? Undecided

I had high hopes but was severely disappointed by the craptastic rip-off they tried to pass-off. Pi_freak

I have to agree with you on this one TimF.
I didn't even get through the first episode before switching over.

They even had the hide to try and replicate the 3 hosts.

It was like watching an American episode of "THE OFFICE".

I know wasn't it so obvious they were 'trying' hard.

Just not the same.

It set a low standard and failed to achieve it. %mins was all I could take. Too scripted, trying too hard to copy the original. Wont be going there again

Give it time guys. It could have been MUCH worse. I fully expected some wankers like Glenn Ridge or Grant Denyer to be hosting. Pi_freak They're about as personable as cast iron, and a lot less funny. The 3 guys that are doing the job are genuine enthusiasts and it'll take 'em a while to find their feet. Thought we could have found a more Aussie name for the test driver though (say Davo or BruceRoll) I'll give it a bit of time and see. But I really hope that we'll still get the Brit version too.
It's a week by week charade.

At least they could have tried to review some decent cars. Might have taken the spotlight off their mediocre performance.

Yeah I have the Paris to Peking series by that Warren Brown cartoonist, which I love. Which made for even more of a let down when watching Top Gear Australia.

It had none of the wit or intellect that Top Gear UK has. And that shark segment was a disaster - some sharks ignoring a car while eating burley. But it didn't stop them trying to jiggle the camera to make it look like the sharks gave a f*ck about the car.

In a way I am so glad I have not been able to catch it on TV

The reviews are very damming of it, everwhere I have read.
