Overseas Busa frame
#1
I can buy a hayabusa frame for a fair price which came from Europe as a bike with out a motor and other bits missing. I checked the frames vin with Vicroads and it doesnt come up as stolen.

I'm wondering, if I choose to use the frame for a project which I want to register for on the road, is there red tape problems that I will encounter which may limit road registered use? What other problems may I encounter? Feel free to put any info towards this!

you will not be able to register to frame in Australia and it would not show up on Vic roads as stolen as they would have no records on this bike that is why its selling cheep

Has it been registered in Australia before? How much for each part? Interested in frame, complete engine with airbox and wiring, complete front wheel.

Busa-Rod, I'd thought I'd check with roads incase it was a stolen local part.

Yes it is that one on ebay. Thanks for advertising it to every one here SFun_kickingroin

Ive been on the phone with Vicroads all afternoon and all the staff that have the knowledge of this law have left Vicroads...can you beleive this?

There going to have a meeting amongst themselves to discuss it this afternoon and let me know. By the looks of things, it involves engineers reports and compliance plate needing to be provided from Suzuki Australia. Big hassle and this looks like it will be much more expensive than buying a frame from the Wreckers.

Dont know that its on ebay.
Lots of shit to try & get OS frame registered unless you live there & bring it back with ya.
It was registered in Sydney from new 03 model , then ownership was transfered to a qld about 16 months ago. That owner then traded it with me & i sold it on.
It has a clear title , no smash damage .
Other parts are available , tank, fairings ducktail
Should own it for $1400
Shipping to Vic was quoted to last buyer about $160.

The one ANT and I have been watching on Ebay is a different
one to Rubins.

ANT, do you think your the only Guy who watch's Ebay...Lol3
It might have saved me bidding against you.

What I wonder is how all the Harley guy's get there aftermarket,
far from standard, 1-off chop frames registered?

No, but it was Ghastly typing in SFun_kickingroin for the first time.

Vicroads called me back and tells me that I must get an Australian compliance plate which only can be achieved through Suzuki Australia which they wont give out and also have to get an engineers certificate.

So, Im not sure how the Harley riders do it.

Can cast aluminium be welded to billet aluminium? The factory frames do it so I guess it can be done. All depending on the grade of course.

Ant, check out all the welding comments in the"frame repair" thread in this section. You may get some answers to your question.
