I might leave that one then!
I don't know how it was ridden. I just noticed when I looked. The 05 model with 6k on it had 13.4k/l in the display as well. Seems a bit high considering it just sits there and gets the odd ride (flog?) home with a worker.
Cheers

Interesting - my one shows 15k/1, but i reckon i go pretty easy, and it has just had pipes put on - so maybe that makes things a bit different also

Yeah sounds like the one I was looking at was thirstier than a bricky on friday arvo. Just so's I have an idea - are the coppers worth more as a general kind of thing? I've noticed emphasis placed on the colour.

Personally I don't care what colour it is - but its good to know so as I don't offend anyone by saying this!

everyone will have a different opinion on this, however the Copper/Silver was the first along with the Red/Black, only all the public advertising was based on the copper. So it sorta became the icon of the busa and often a sought after color because of its "status", at leased thats my biased opinion. besides we all know the copper goes the fastest, just ask the coppers in blue on that lol.

Umm... err..... if you ever need a second opinion..... let me know.

BTW... is that the Cagiva that looks like they made modelled the front on Bugs Bunny's head? Has rabbits ears over the gauges and towards the front? If so, I'm sure it will be very.... errr... slimming.

Ahhhhhmmm.... wot up Doc?

Don't know if this is the most appropriate thread, but it looks like this is where everybody is hanging out, so here goes............

I love the lines of the BUSA so I can't get this bike out of my mind!!!!! Im a 37 year old Architect (now you see why I can't let the looks of the BUSA go) I have never owned a bike before, but I always rode my friends from time to time. So, I'm not a complete newby but I haven't had thousands of miles of road experience.
I'm married with a young daughter and have no plans on riding stupid to die young. I am not interested in going fast I just want to cruise on a nice low-slung wicked looking sportbike like the Busa. I want a big bike because I want it to soak up highway bumps with ease.
I see a million females riding Busa's so I'm wondering why it makes people nervous because I want one. Is the difference mainly that women tend not to do stupid guy things with their bikes so they live longer on them?!?!?!? If so, I assure you, my stupid days are over.

So, should I get the Busa out of my mind and go for a 600-something or buy what I want one time and just remember to kneel before it with respect everytime I go to ride it?!?!?Undecided

BUSA BABY,Welcome
You can buy a busa and use it or abuse it.
They are as docile as a kitten or wild as a lion, it is just a matter of self control.
If you reckon you can control your wrist on the throttle, you will find the Hayabusa is a very rewarding comfortable ride.
Just remember that they accellerate faster than they stop.

Thank you all!! Finally some encouraging words!!

i am learning fast that if you're thinking about buying a motorcycle that you should just keep it to yourself until you buy it or else you will hear every tragic story known to man!! I have no intentions of riding crazy so i will heed the advice...........now.........if I can just find an insurance carrier that doesn't want $3,000us/year then I'll be ready!!!Pi_freak

Any general consensus (I know i'm pushing it) on model year I should stay away from or look for?!?!? I only know which color scheme I'd like to find...........that Blue and Silver gets me everytime!!!!

Another thing............it seems that the riding position on the Busa is a lot less stressful on the arms and wrists as some other Superbikes. Seems like the seating position coupled with the bar position doesn't push you so far over the tank.

Is that so, or is that just the little Busa falcon on my shoulder making me see things so I will buy the bike no matter what?!?!?

Get a red one because they are fast. Most people who don't have a red one are gay or slow or both. The 06 model in Australia tends to blow gearboxes doing no clutch flat changes at the drags. That is about it really.

BTW - mine is red.

The first two years, 1999 and 2000, have external fuel pumps that suffer from the heat.
The later models have the pump inside the tank and don't have any issues to be worried about.
Having said that, the first two years are the fastest.

If you want a really OBVIOUS bike, you'd go with everyone else's suggestions, but if you would like something classy and a little less common you'd go with the purple/black.

Don't listen to everyone who tells you those horror stories. I used to nod politely, but after being in a particularly nasty car accident, cage drivers have nothing to brag about!

I don't think there is a color scheme I would say no to.......it turns me on that much, but I can't say that I have seen many purple/blacks. At least not on EBAY.

Any comments on teh riding position?
