Balls is right.my datalogging tells me i,m only using 124hp in first gear at stock height.Have done a few runs lower not tied down and lets just say i can use a bit more than that.I bet i know how many leonard uses in 1st gear.Pi_freak

Yep Pi_thumbsup it take a lot of practice, we often gets Guys turning up on all different types of bikes wondering why they are not busa beaters, the trouble is they believe the bullshit in the mags they soon come down to earth with a big bang. Boobies4

That's why you shouldn't WOT and dump the clutch in first gear, can't use it all without over-lofting the front wheel. Getting it all just right is the ticket.

Dont be mistaken the zx14 is a seriously fast bike stock or otherwise, I was impling about how many newbie's turn up at the drag's with the lastest and greatest (some even go so far as to enlighten us on how fast their bikes are) only to get whipped by an old model busa in the hands of a "streetmeet regular" then never to return.

Some are worried about the new 08 having more hp and maybe getting beaten at the drags, only way this will happen if one of the regulars gets an 08.

Not bad for a newbie, with practice on a stockie you should get into the low tens, or possibly high to mid 9's, (if your'e a jockey in the US at least). But alas, drag racing works on the law of diminishing returns, you invest more time, money, effort etc and it gets more and more difficult to for the ET to come down.

All it takes to run high 9's is a lowering link and a strap, gearing (if your no lightweight) and practise....lots of practise and listening to the right advise (Pan can assist in this area).
Dont need no pipes, pc's etc, all you need is 138-140 mph terminal speed, but you also need a low 1.6 or a 1.5 60' time. This has been proven a WSID many times, with a 90kg rider (no gear).

The zx14 has the hp advantage, so stock it will run in the 9's easier than a stock Busa.
