There was a minus 3 degrees and a heavy fog on the way home from work a couple of mornings ago. I got onto Gungahlin Drive and had to keep my visor up (about 0550hrs) as it iced up so heavily I could get the ice off or see through it, got home and crackled when I got off the bike, ice all over the exposed parts of my jacket, shoulders, elbows, knees etc. It looks like being a long cold winter. It was different this morning on the way home, raining, windy as shit and pretty cold, +3 degrees.

Its bloody freezing here too Maxxie. I knew it would be cold here but I had no concept. What troubles me the most is that it isn't even trying yet.

It's only just starting Gleno. It will get much worse yet, there was snow all over the place in the surrounding areas of Canberra yesterday.

Dang. I'm moving. Make room Richard. I'm heading to Townsville. My idea of warm weather gear was putting socks on with my thongs.

you pussy glen! I was riding out & about when it was 4c!

simple really - my leathers have got a winter liner that zips in, got a fog off mask that keeps my face & neck warm combo'd with a skivvy - thick socks & decent gloves = toasty & good riding! :)

i don't mind riding in the cold until i have to go to the dunny cause the bladder has shrunkded.

Ya stand there and undo the zip on the bike pants.... then the zip on the jeans.... pull down the tracky dacks.... then the thermals... finally the jocks... and... OH MY GAWD IT'S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

has anybody else ridden in snow when it was so cold they actually considered shoving a red hot poker up their arse to scare it out???

On a more serious note... (not that freezing ones favorite assets off isn't serious) does anybody have trouble with painful wrists and fingers when riding in the cold?

When I did the Jindy loop with abusa a couple of years ago, I thought my little fingers were both frozen.
In fact they were on the surface. We defrosted temporarliy at Khancoban.

Riding in that sort of weather is character building, isn't it!

If freezing your fingers builds character i think i would rather be an extra in the film than a star.
