Launceston Country Club my suggestion, with 2 night boat trip there and back and great places to ride.

Thursday night x Melb - Davenport
Friday, ride till lunch, check in Launceston.
Friday night festive dinner, bars and casino.
Saturday, ride to Hobart and surrounds or play golf at club.
Sunday morning checkout, ride including Richmond then Davenport boat to Melb.
Arrive Melb. Monday morning. all are just aproximate suggestions.

costs are very aproximate:
overnight boat trip x 2 nights $180 per person ($90 each way)
Bike $100 both ways
Launceston country club villas with share up to 5 persons per villa @ $30-35 pp. per night  for 2 nights. share 4, share 3, share 2 bit more pp.

What do you think guys gals?

I would vote Tassie out - the QLD guys have been riding down for ages....

What about up at the Oxley HWY? Meant to be one of the best ride for riding (I have done & would love to go again!!)

North NSW so Melbourne guys ride longer.

I'd also vote jindy again tho as well just because of how good the ride is there & back - but I think its time we went up north.

I'm with Raz on this one. Tassie would be great but last time i got my bike seriusly wet i had a few electrical problems.

Jindy was really good, Like Raz said the ride there was great. I wouldn't mind travelling a few more ks. What's halfway? Not for us Vic's or the ACTors but for the QLD's and the SAs's saasssas (whatever)?

There are stacks of options for gatherings across Oz but do we need a change or is there other activities that some would like the option of avaliable at a different venue?

Waiting to see what other ideas peoples have on this one...

We battled this out last year and Jindy won again.
I can suggest many options but people are going to have to be prepared to travel and the season has to suit.
A couple off the top of my head.
Malacoota, Mudgee, Tamworth, Armidale, Glen Innes, Lightning Ridge, Port Macquarie, Hunter Valley, Port Stephens, Nowra, Gold Coast.
Any of these destinations have good accommodation, roads and weather at various times.

you know the hills out the back of the gold cost must ROCK for riding!! I remember camping up the back of them around an old in-active volcano :)

Would love to make the ride up north - maybe not the best option for the full group ride but I vote Nth NSW for sure :)

my main problem with Tassie is getting the bikes there with out damage.... have heard of some horror storys

What about a poll, Rod? let it run for while and see what it turns up. There has got to be some really good places that are relatively central and won't piss rain on cue.

Tony and I are cool with anywhere. Does the boat still go to Tassie from Sydney tho or will we need to ride to Melbourne? That might be an issue for us but then if it is we will just have to stay home :(

Why does it have to be instead of? Why not as well as? Tassie has some advantages, but very prejudicial. Organise a Tassie ride, and maybe there can be a NSW / Qld get together at the same time, somewhere that benefits them. But, have it in addition ...
