Hot

36 C yesterday (97 F for you USA'ers) and after riding over half an hour in the heat (and in traffic) the engine was understandibly quite hot (in the red). Four hours later, (around 10 p.m.) I checked the bike, and it was still pointing halfway between H and C - I can't believe it was taking so long to drop the temperature!

40 C today (104 F) - I'm worried that riding in traffic in this heat is not going to be good for the bike. Is this the case?

Sounds odd? My first outing on my 'busa was at the Western Australian toyrun (me and 5,999 other bikes!) which, from memory, was a day that peaked in the high thirties. A LOT of sitting in traffic at idle, given the significant traffic bottlenecking on the day!!!

Sure,,, the rear of my legs were medium / well done by the end, but at no point did the temp gauge climb over the 3/4 mark. The thermatic fans were certainly working overtime!

Which leads me to ask if your thermostat temperature setting hasn't changed?

richard you should take note as to what your temp guage indicates when your thermo fan comes on (that's if it comes on?),,

also your dash temp guage is not guaranteed to be accurate, but under normal circumstances your temperature should not be running in the red even in these conditions unless there is something wrong,,

if in doubt, get it checked you don't want a cooked engine!

cheers

Will keep a closer eye on it. On the way in to work, I didn't let it idle at lights if I thought I would be there longer than half a minute or so.

I'm the same as CruzaBbsa, same place, same day and had no overheating problems bar my legs. Its never gone over the 2/3rds mark at anytime.
