Weekend at Col's and Heidi in Canb.
#1
Hi All,

Just recovering from my 2000 k's weekend trip. Went up to Sydney with one other to visit Col. Left early Friday morning and got there at 4;30pm. I had much reservations whether I would be able to do that trip on the one day namely just over 900 ks. But I did and was suprised that I could on the bus, so it does qualify as a tourer too.

Spent Saturday at his well equiped work shop and was very kindly hosted by Col and his wife Julia. He checked out the bike made some adjustments to the mapping as it was running too rich on high, hence the poor fuel economy and of course found plenty extra horses lying around that was harnessed to the bus. A big thanks to you Col, it was a pleasure finally meeting you. Please post to all the details of your future workshop meet that you plan in February. (if you wish too)

Left to Canberra on Saturday late afternoon and met up with Heidi later in the evening. It was great seeing you again and to see how much you enjoy your busa, especially after having ridden on that day with 2 other Busas. Am glad your finding some busa riders there.

Left Sunday morning via the back way through Cooma and Orbost, back to Melbourne. Certainly more entertaining than the Hume on the way to Sydney, though felt longer than it should be. Back home totally Fu...d and exhausted around 6 pm. Had to sleep heaps to recover, my old bones dont take too well on the saddle anymore on long trips.

Some stats;

Melbourne - Sydney about 920 k's. Fuel Avge. 15.5 k/l.

Sydney - Canberra - Melbourne 1030 k's Fuel Avge. 20.5 k/l

yeah i can vouch for volvi's adventure as i was there too,,

i loved the ride, it's by far the best ride i've been on for a long time, beats lunch at buxton by a country mile and certainly says heaps for touring long distances on a busa - very comfortable indeed!

col fiddled with my bike too and looks like my mods worked quite well and with some mapping and fiddling its been tuned to perfection,,

for those of you who are interested in dyno charts here is mine after col's little fiddle and my fuel economy is now fantastic too,,

cheers

G'day Les & Volvi,

Sorry for the delay in posting, however a format on the C drive after a virus is not fun. All is well now.

Glad you guys had some fun and some results were to be had, well I had fun anyway. Julia and I had a ball, you guys are bent!!!!!!! Julia is a top lady and is a major part of the business, without her it would'nt work. That's why it's WE.

Anytime a member wants to come up, just give me a mail or call, and we will arrange a reasonable time. No pressure just a good time, even if you only want to chat.

Regards Col.

calling heidi,

now i know why no one wants to ride with you!!

they would have trouble keeping up with you particularly, at night, who do you think you are troy?? (lol) slow down and maybe you will find a few takers who will ride with you,,

also, therein lies your answer as to why you are chewing out rear tyres at 2,000 kays - that awesome cornering you do around your fair city,,

nice catching up with you, pity time was so short and we couldn't go on a longer ride - oh well, maybe next time,,

cheers

Ahhhh!

It's good to see more converts to the Dyno. Mine was done by Pete last year, along with the airbox and resistors, and hasn't missed a beat since. Regardless of who does it and where, as long as it's done properly the results are there and what a difference it makes

Seriously, if anyone out there is contemplating putting their bike on the dyno, stop thinking about it and do it!! It's money VERY well spent.

Would be interested to see that in SAE corrected hp, or even to see the correction factors used. Is it crank hp, rear wheel hp? banana's hp, VB hp?????

I cant see no titles on the axis!!!.....

have you had it dynoed on that same dyno before any mods to use as a base line??.. any others done on the same day under the same conditions ??

more info!!!!

Dearest Numbnuts,

Looking at all your previous posts, I do need to ask one question, who put the words in your mouth, as it seems you are unable to come up with any type of original idear. I get pissed off with f*** wits, and you seem to fit the bill. Please correct me if you feel i'm wrong.

Since I don't use a bullshit dyno like most poms do, shit anyone can accelerate a 44 gallon drum full of lead, but in the end what will it tell you "NOTHING" 'cause it ain't a real dyno.

Ever read the SAE paper on dyno set ups, I think not. It might be just a little bit beyond your mind. We used Dynojet fudge factors, since they have set the standard for power readings even if their 17.5% inbuilt addition is not obvious to all.

Correction factors used on the day were 1.040 due mainly to the high humidity, normally we find it around the .998 mark.

Oh, and yes others were done on the same day. We had a R1 very late in the day that only pulled 138.

Sorry to ask is it numbnuts or noballs?

Please post items of interest or f*** off. I've had enough.

regards Col
