Opinion from the ladies on the board

Thanks Paul!
Right now I'm pricing insurance, and seeing how much I'd get for my Harley...it will take some time, but I believe I'll have a Busa before too long!

The weight surprised me when I sat on it...the bike looks like it would be so heavy, but it was easy to stand up off the kick stand, and I could shift the bike back and forth no problem...

...I've dropped my Harley twice...once was just a drop on gravel, and the other was a small altercation with a ditch! But, I'm not worried about picking a bike up, though I wouldn't mind learning a technique to do so some time!

A ditch?

A year ago on Sunday my Busa found it's way into a ditch as well!! :"> As for a technique to pick it up out of the ditch, I didn't have to bother, it cartwheeled about 3 times straight back out! (As did I).

About test riding, most dealers over here will let you ride one if they have a demo or a second hand one for sale...but they usually won't let you go far.

Most riding schools will teach you how to pick up a bike easily. If you grab the handle grip thats on the ground side with both hands, let it go to full lock, squat and lift, any weight bike will lift pretty easy.

Hey Michelle

When I replied the first time I didn't read your name properly and didn't realise you were a GIRL! WHOO-HOO! Just go out and BUY ONE! The thing that nearly stopped me from buying my first was the 'bullshit factor'. I knew that a girl on a busa would cop flack. I cop a LOT of flack, that is why I don't ride in groups I don't know, it just wasn't worth it. In saying that, the bullshit is always from boys who ride R1s or GSXR750s, NEVER (ok, only once) Hayabusas guys.

I find that some guys don't think a girl should ride something like that so they want to go out and prove you can't. If they beat you, they are INSUFFERABLE, if you beat them they have bald tyres or a fuel line problem.

Ditch the Harley, buy one you'll never look back.

HEIDI xxx

P.S. I'm 5'11'' so I don't have any probs. When people ask if you can pick it up, tell them you have no intention of dropping it.

Hi Michelle, Welcome to the board,

I have invited another female busa rider named Pearl to come and give her views here. Shes a bit shy to post dont ask me why, shed put some guys to shame here the way she rides her bus. She loves the busa, ever since she sat on mine she couldnt stop drooling over it until she got one, now she can drooll on her own bike. Needless to say her boyfriend had to get one too, in order to date her? I dont know, perhaps its the power of the p....umm busa

Scott - sorry about your altercation with a ditch! At least the bike made its way back out for you!

My ditch story is just embarrassing...not familiar enough with the controls to find the damn brakes, so I just let the bike go until the ditch stopped it! OUCH...I was bruised up a bit, but I learned that I wasn't ready to ride without taking a class first...I tend to learn things the hard way sometimes!

Heidi - it looks like you are the only gal around here! The "bullshit factor" is exactly what's got me kind of annoyed at the moment...I really don't like being told (by strangers) what I can and can't handle! Funny thing is that I am getting flack from guys that don't have a Busa, or had a Busa, so what in the hell does that mean?! And you're a lot taller than I am...I need to sit on that Busa again!

I recently raced a guy in my car that had been running his mouth for months about how fast he was, how he'd fixed his car to beat mine, etc...so, we race, I kicked his ass, and when we pulled off the road, he got out and said that his car wasn't really ready to race yet - he still had some work to do to his car, blah blah blah...So, yeah, I wouldn't mind watching some faces sag while they figure out an excuse for not being as fast...you've gotta love being a gal and gloating sometimes!

Volvi - tell your gal friend Pearl to give me some advice here! Heidi can't be the only female on the board!

I might be test driving a Busa on Saturday, by the way...got to make some calls and see how flexible a dealership can be...I'll keep everyone posted!

Forgot to ask...how are Busas on tires? How much mileage (or kilometers) do you guys get out of that rear tire? Are tires very expensive?

Thanks!

change the rear bag every 2nd fill up
on a more serious note the busa is for experienced riders only ( male ,female or martian ) my 0.02 if you dont have a bad case of ducks disease should have no probs

Gary -
The experience level is more what I'm wondering about...I don't have years upon years of experience riding, and I have absolutely no experience on a bullet bike...I'm one to take my time and not assume I know it all my first time out...I feel confident I can handle anything if I take my time getting a feel for it...

I handle my Harley just fine...had a learning curve just like everyone, but now it's like getting in my car...second nature I guess...

Nothing would suck more than going on and on about getting a new Busa, then dumping it or getting hurt...

Michelle, the busa can be a pussy or a exorcet missile, its up to you.You can ride the torque curve and it can be as civil as any bike, but get the beast up at around 9000 rpms and get ready to put your eyeballs back in their sockets .I've had mine about 6 months and i've been riding for 25 years and when i nail it ,the thing still scares the by jesus out of me But as i said, ultimately its up to you and your right wrist."Do you feel lucky punk!............Well do you"?

That Clint Eastwood line never gets old, does it?!

I think I can handle it!

And everyone should experience eyeballs in the back of their sockets at some point, right? Like when you're sitting next to your husband on his slow Harley and he's constantly revving the engine like he's got a chance?!

Rest assured, I'm a gal that only pushes things when I feel that I'm ready to...

I think that 2 gears on the busa should be enough to see the hardly off!

HA! I think I could take him in just first gear!

hey michelle
just make sure don't give him an inadequate complex!!!!!!!! and as far as buying a busa, go for it and you'll never look back, its a much safer choice than most machines in its class.....

Buy it. Ride like a baby until you get used to it, (by the end of the second to seventh day). It's only my third bike, but it's the best thing on the street. I'm looking to get a second one at some point.

If you drove a Mercedes or Lotus you'd get shit from the guys. It's just insecurity, don't worry about it. Busas are for babes.
