1. Agreed, get an aftermarket
2. Agreed, no argument there.
3. Disagree, get it re-mapped
4. Disagree " " "
5. Why are you picking on these shite boxes ?
6. Max RPM ? Get it re-mapped man !
Last month did a return trip from Melbourne to the Gold Coast. Fitted was a double bubble screen, inch bar risers and a sheepskin seat cover. Was very comfy and it good on juice.

I stayed far too long with the stock screen. Didn't get an aftermarket for about 12 months, then wished I had done it 12 months earlier!
I agree with Rev, basically, and think you've either got too high expectations or one dog of a bike...
Remove, first impressions may last, so iron your problems out quick or you may never be happy with it.
Agree with you on the screen, get an aftermarket double bubble.
Disagree with you on the rest of the stuff, I think your bike may need a bit of attention. As for the leg room, I'm 6'3" and don't find it a problem, but I'm not considering the Busa to be a tourer either.
By the way, with standard gearing your speedo should only be between 4-8% out, I think that's been proven using yellow boxes and radars.
Good luck with it.
Just curious , but what are you guys getting from a tank of fuel.....in klms and lt/100km
(a) from work and back every day?
(b) on a big ride through the twisties or freeway runs?
On a sunday ride up the old road , i might get 135-150klm a tank, but on a big road trip it will get to about 210 max...?
Holy cow K,you must be really giving that throttle a caning, mate?
1. Cruising on long hwy trips = about 350kms till dry
2. Rootin` around with the power = 240 - 280kms
3. Now with lower gearing = about 60kms less across the board.
I take it you do have a 22lt tank,yeah??
Seems a very low range even if you`re always `on it`.
yes must get the mapping checked as it is way to rich at least down low I cannot use the choke as it loads up and runs on 3 cylinders and yes I was expecting to much I spose as my last stead was a blackbird and quite frankly there is not a great deal in performance from the busa over the bird ( can of worms opened )
any of you guys used the services of S&R pro out at Penrith ???
Gary
I ride my 02 to work every day and I get about 250 before the light goes on, my bike is standard too and it pulls 153 on the Dyno.
From what I've read I'm sure the busa doesn't have a choke as such, it's more a fast idle control & it shouldn't be "loading up " & running on 3 cylinders at idle anyway.
Sounds like a bit of TLC required
Rev,
you are correct as far as the direct translation is concerned . A choke should only be referred to a petrol motor that utlises a carby. Wont go into this further.
On modern EFI motors and the Busa has a fairly modern system with a Mass Air Flow meter and other sensors ie temp. The EFI compensates for cold startup by simply fuel enrichment ie the dwell time of the injector opening (all 4 in this sytem I assume are what is call banked --all 4 fire at the same time ) is increased slightly. ie more fuel for a given mass of air (not volume) . You'll find the choke cable is connected to the throttle body butterflys and will give a fast idle.
Out of interest pull the so called choke on when the motor is hot ? see what happens.?
My bike's not std, and i do give it a hard time but seriously 150klm is pretty poor. It's a 22 lt tank as well.
It's just been remapped at Col's. He said he took a lot of fuel out of the bottom end, because it was back firing alot which i figured.
So I'll have to wait and see if their is a difference in fuel economy.......I'll keep you's posted.
See i told you shit like this happens if ya muck around with them!
You might be right RR, ah well shit happens ,whats done is done. Not angry about it, just curious........
If it aint broke... hey RR
G,day
My first hayabusa 99 copper silver 9000km full yohsi system with yoshi cams ?, and the bar risers michlin rubber. rode to Melbourne from Canberra and back wet ,windy , cold & overcast ,day and night riding ,some comments
1. most usless fairing screen ever devised complete garbage is there an aftermarket one which is larger that you can tuck behind
2. far more comfortable than I figured it would be for touring though leg room is not enough for long trips to cramped
3. a real pig in slow stop start traffic ,though I put it down to the yoshi gear far to fat(fuel rich ) at idle and low revs bogging down requiring handfull of revs and spinning rear to clear at each start from stop real fun on wet greasey roads
4. a real fuel pig average 14.5km ltr for me 19.5 for mates stock 02 busa above mods I assume is the cause
5.several drivers of A) xr8 ute b) clubman sport c) turbo nissan zx 300 d) bmw sport now know not to mess with a bussa or be embarrased top speed of 310 indicated ( at which point the acceleration started to drop off )though I suspect it reads about 10-12 % opptimistic only fun on an otherwise boring hwy
6. very dissapointed in the sorry top end expected it to pull a lot harder
anyway its now going to be stripped down and some good go fast goodies added ,for the salt flats only to easy to loose ones license on a bussa
Gary
