But do you mean actually in the road? How? Or just in road sensors?

I heard of a system they were thinking of putting in right across Europe, that I am surprised hasn't happened yet.

The tax disc, (or rego, here), would include a unique chip that is read by sensors attached to existing traffic monitoring cameras, (there are loads of these in the UK. Not for law enforcement, but for radio, TV, AA, RAC road watch services).
Other post would be placed up with sensors to fill the gaps.

The idea is that the sensor readers are a mile apart, and the computer can determine your speed by calculating the time it took you between leaving the last sensor and arriving at the next, and automatically send you a ticket the way flash cameras do now. That would bugger anyone with a stealth plate or radar detector. The cameras could also read number plates and tax disc, and even recognise faces of banned drivers, (they must be close to perfecting this bit, because it's wasn't that bad about four years ago).

Clearly some things had to be sorted out to make it tamper proof, but the system is reletively cheap, and I thought was going to happen.

I was about to join the MRAA, and they did impress me at the Sydney show, but having checked the website, all information seems to pertain to Victoria. As a newby to this country, I could use some NSW knowledge. How much of it is the same? Can we park on the pavement for instance? Is there a MRAA, NSW?

In NSW you have the MCC (Motor Cycling Council of NSW) which does the same thing I think. There is no mention of MRA NSW on the MRAA Vic website.

For all Victorian riders there is a radio program every Saturday morning on 1116 3ak (AM) from 9 till 10 am
where all the issues concerning the future of our recreation is discussed via a talk back radio forum

Today the topic was the front number plate debate & it was good to hear well informed comment & theories from the hosts of the show & the callers as well

Stay tuned

Changing the theme a bit but still relating to our so called freedom - wonder would members like to tell the number of times they have been pulled over for no reason other than being on a bike and subjected to ; licence check, rego check, bike check, breathalised and generally given a verbal bashing on our wicked ways.
Think they call it victimisation,or helping save our lives.
