Coming to that time when bleeding and fluid replacement wont be enough with stretched lines. I want to install some braided lines. Am interested in hearing from anyone who may have changed theyre lines and which types used or recommended. Also from where and how much are they? Thx.
Hi volvi,i was looking for a set myself. There was a company called Galfer at the supers flogging brake stuff. They have the plastic coated ones, which you can get in different colors, and they are legal for the road.I think the guy quoted me about $180 for a front set.Their phone no is 0296091054 or galferoz@hotkey.net.au.They are in nsw.Hope this helps
Thx but probably more inclined to go for stainless steel ones.
They are braided stainless steel The plastic coating is there to pass standards.
Look, heres the guff from the brochure i have.Galfer manufactures a range of stainless steel braided lines for on/off road. All lines are made with dupont teflon,PTFE inner line and a stainless steel over braid that gives you extremely low expansion and provides excellent lever feel and is very durable. What more do you want?
G,day,
Ive got the goodrige lines on my bike.
Excellent feel, look trick with the coloured plastic outer coating. Go for the stainless banjos too. The anodised ones fade real quick and look tatty.
$330.00 complete front & rear.
Fitting? easy to DIY
Just rode a friends bike with this set up & noticed that compared to my stock rubber lines there was no lag between lever action & brake action. The stopping
effect seemed comparable but with less effort at the lever.
I'm getting some ASAP.
Glad you liked my braided brake lines rev01. I'd be getting a new front tyre first. (Scarey!) Great ride to Yea on Easter Sunday too. Didn't see the Easter Bunny, but almost hit that Echidna!
Cheers Phil. (Riding, not eating Easter eggs!)
Had them on the Busa - should be the first thing you do to your bike, perhaps second after a double bubble screen. Well worth it. BF Goodridge ones from memory.
My braided line cost me about $15 and runs from the tap to the shitter. Works a treat.
Yeah GDY it's a bit worn alright I'm gonna be "looked after" though on a new one
But hey, compared to some of the evil handling flexi frame shit boxes I've had in the past, this thing is a wonder even with a worn tyre
Have you ever ridden a Kawasaki 500 triple fast ?
Forgot to mention GDY, fitted me some of them there flash rear blinkers due to copious whining from "certain people" who follow me around from time to time
Even the "Latte Boys" are whining, bleat, bitch, sook, "can't see your indicators rev"
Gone from 2 candlepower to mega power so my intentions should be plain to see from now on :
might keep your mate bluebottle off my hammer
Volvi, let me know with what lines you go with! Been wanting for ages to get a Stainless set myself - don't like the coloured coat over the lines, BUT it is a legal requirement for a sleeve to be over lines - clear or not??.
I don't know what the standards are with bikes, but on aircraft, it is mandatory to have a fire retardant sleeve over hydraulic and oil lines (especially in engine bays or around hot components) because if you have a line burst [those teflon ones do occasionly], the sleeve is meant to stop the fluid from spraying over engine or undercarriage - will only gurgle or dribble out if sleeve splits, or will run down inside sleeve and safely drip out near fitting - less fire hazard and less mess!!!! Imagine on your bike if frony split with no sleeve - brake fluid spraying onto hot engine, or up into visor or vision, or onto road for your rear tyre to slip on!!!! YOW!! If line splits and dribbles out near fitting, you would have noticed low brake pressure and had time to pull over, with only drops going onto road - not spraying all resivoir fluid over engine and road!
Just my 2c worth, Peter
Well, God bless you Reverend. At least I'll know which way your turning from now on. (Not as bad as the indicators on a certain 99 bronze Busa)
And by the way, none of my mates are bluebottles!
And I'll see you on the ride tomorrow. (And I'll even know which way your turning.) If you can get in front that is. Your shout for the latte!
How are the GSXR footpegs?
Don't forget the digital camera.
Cheers, Phil. Riding not talking.
