If you had promised something like a one week delivery, and hadn't kept the customer informed on what was happening, then maybe some firm words would be warranted, but not the crap that you did get. If you haven't already sent the goods send his money back and tell him you refuse to deal with dickheads. Chances are he won't be happy with what he gets anyway and will just winge and cause a problem.

I always let the customer know whats happening with there goods, and he was no exception, it only takes a phone call or email to let them know. Anyway the manuf.screwed it by at least 7 days,but this dude wasnt happy either way. He works at "The Advertiser" in SA I sent a nice little letter to his Man/Director saying what a wonderfull representative he has for his newspaper. That might slow him down a bit. Cheers,
