Have crossed to the dark side
#1
G,day fellas I,m kawasuki,s son.Well i,ve crossed to the dark side and bought joshinthecity,s 2004 blue silver busa. The thing is I haven,t sold the vfr800 yet. Both great bikes in their own ways.the viffer was fully sorted so the busa is a big step forward engine wise but a backwards step handling and braking wise.Putting two and two together and you,ll realise that being part of easyriderimports means this bike is in for some big changes dynamically and visually. For now though i,m currently paying respect to those out their enjoying the standard busa + stain tunes and higher screen.I really love the off idle torque and the torquey long leggedness.I really don,t like the snatchy onoff throttle and the brakes that require 4 fingers to stop.Anyway enough wingeing I plan to improve the bikes weak points as the engine is great I just need to make the rest of the bike great.
cheers glenn

Welcome aboard Glenn. This really has been the week for new members... must be a record.

It will be interesting to watch the progress of your new toy. You should start a Topic in the Modifications area and keep us updated of progress and changes. Might give your dad a bit of competition eh ??

Now every time Kawa advertises a new product, we know what the new catch-phrase is going to be.....

Tell 'em the price son... tell 'em the price !!!

(If you've not seen the Little Battler Carpet guy's TV ad that won't make any sense to you - might not even if you have.)

The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... RobEdited by: AstroBusa at: 17/3/06 3:03 am

My Advice is dont put Carpet on the bike !!!!

It will only slow you down!!!!!

But if you really want to, a BLUE shag pile would look good!!!!!

Hi Glenn,
Congrats on the new bike and welcome to the board.

I'm not sure what you mean by the snatchiness of the throttle.
They are normally very smooth in the on/off throttle department.
Maybe Josh had it tweaked to be that way or maybe it has a TRE already fitted.
Anyway, happy sailing. You'll really appreciate the busa when you get it out in the country where they belong.

Welcome Glen,
I will never, as long as I live, forget the 75 jarring, blood sweating kilometers I sat on the back of that bloody Viffer after my Bus broke down. After that ride, I'll ride with you anywhere you were pretty damned good on that Viffer - for a Honduh, that is (:-)))).

Cheers and welcome again.

Thanks fellas.the wife and the 2kids are sick both grandmothers are sick, lifes hard and I couldn,t understand even after 12-14 hour days I still come home happy.I just realised Its my new bike!!Its my new lump of clay to mould, its my new no strings girlfriend, its my new escape. The vfr is a great bike but their was nothing else i could do to it and the quick speed fix drags were not within its comfort zone.I just have to pace myself and take deep breaths or the back door will be locked and the house empty if i overindulge in my new baby.As for max hitting a rock with the front tyre at 150 round a sweeper with you on the back made my sweat glands kick in after i realised what had happened!By the way where can i get plain chrome bar ends? Cheers glenn.

Glenn.

I've had exactly the same feeling... long hours working, lots of stress, etc... yet loving life... because I ride the Busa each day!

I got my bar ends chromed at Blue Chrome Spares (in Bankstown) for $22.50. I rode for 2 weeks without them, but it was worth it...

Thanks Pan I,ll try them.xller8 put tlr stalks on his mirrors I think they would look good chromed too( theyre about an inch longer apparently meaning less elbows you can,t seem to accelerate away from.opp racing sell LighTech carbon mirrors that are gorgeous but are about 5cm shorter than the busas. If only I could make up a stalk that didn,t stuff the look they would be my first choice. As for the snatchy throttle i,m playing with the throttle play to try an get a faster brain to wrist to tyre response so i can get on the throttle earlier and more consistently thru corners. This was one of the hondas strong points, a beautiful throttle cable, the busas nearly there with this area, perhaps a little mapping to soften the initial jolt should help.
