Here's one i would like to hear a explanation for. I went on a toy run ride with 170 bikes and the ride was pretty slow(about hog pace) and allwas fine until there was a stop for about 10 to 15 Min. When i went to restart it, it would not start. Fired a few intermittant times but would not run. The air temp was about 32 degrees. After waiting for another 15 min trying to come up with a cause, it started and ran fine. Anyone had this problem and is there a cure.

Much shame when all the other bikes left and i was still there. :">

Sounds temperature related.... maybe a fuel vapour lock.

If its a 99 model, check your fuel lines are not kinked when your tank is in its normal position. Next time it happens, try cycling the ignition to run the fuel pump a few times to flush any vapours out of the system.

I can only speak for the 99 model as I have experienced it myself.

Same here. First really hot day in Melburnistan & she was hard to start & surged at 7000.

Usual suspect again, blocked fuel regulator filter & half blocked return filter (99)

Haven't read about this problem in a while. Can't remember the cause, but the good news is that they always start up again.

Do a search on the SH.ORG site. Before it crashed there's was much discussion on this. Fuel lines sounds familiar. They have to be watched when you put the tank back down. Have you raised the tank later for air-filter, box-mod or spark plugs etc...?

I had the tank up and changed plugs to go to PI but have travelled 8500k before this happened. It was a hot day and a slow ride. Checked out all the pld posts & have come up with some hints ie

""There are heaps of problems that may occur to any bike not just the Hayabusa.
Here's a list and some successful solutions tried by various onwers and results good or otherwise of their solutions !

If you have any to add or know of sucessful solutions pls mail them. I'm not a bike mechanic of any sort so these are just information that may prove useful or otherwise. I always recommend that you should get your problem looked at by a properly qualifed mechanic first.

all the runing problems associate with stopping at traffic lights, waiting in traffic, not starting when hot etc I cured on my machine by moving the Input Air Temperature Sensor (bottom LHS of airbox) to the ram air tube (about 1 inch left of the fuse box)

Problem is when the IATS gets hot, it leans the mixture out. You take the machine for a ride, then try to hold the IATS in your hand.....TOO HOT!!!!!

I plugged the vacant hole with a plastic bolt and a dab of silicone sealant.

Melted a hole in the Ram air duct with the tip of a soldering iron, just large enough so that with lots of trying the IATS would screw into the ducting.
