Did anyone who attended the Bike show in Sydney recently notice the latest Ducati??? apparently ducati have reduced the price by some $4K compared to the outgoing 999.

They have done a very nice job this time around. I always preferred the 916 lights.

I think they did a piss poor job, sorry Glenn!!

The 916 in my opinion was the sexiest bike of its time, cutting edge design even, The 999 was always going to find it tough after such a successful model, I think it pulled it off reasonably well, again cutting edge design.

The 1098, there is nothing remarkable about the bike, the only thing redeeming is its new motor, its like they just took 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards.

The 1098 should have been the 916's successor, then everyone would have been happy

I wonder what 999's are going to be worth now, they will be a unique model?

It will be interesting to see what unfolds.

I reckon the new Ducati looks real neat from the pics I've seen on the web page....i've never liked the 999's to look at , although to ride they are so much more refined the original 916 which came out in 1994 guys.

the 2nd hand price of the 999's will plumet I'd say!!!

I like the subtle but well engineered bikes. I never was really for the 999 outrageous design. I haven't seen one in the flesh though. I can't have one anyway, so I guess it isn't an issue, unless I want to live in the workshop for six months.

A new contender for the "What would you be riding if there was no Hayabusa" debate.

I remember years ago I used to like them - but now... they dont do anything for me.

I guess its coz I know that firstly the cost factor is just too high - could have just as much fun with a 1k gixxer.
Second - I'd thrash it! no pussy footing around! third, I know the riding position would mean sore wrists, shoulds, legs in general as well which mean long rides would take getting used to. I hate the dry clutch sound as well!!

Also it seems mostly yuppys have them & dont know how to ride them hahaha and they all look the friggen same with their red!!!

Bah - I'll be keeping my bus for a long time "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300"

Thanks, I like my 998 as well. All I can do on this thread is preach aka Rod, don't knock it till you try it. The 1098 may be a brilliant bike, but how it rides is anyones guess. On the contrary, my 998 rides better than any 1k gixxer or R1, ZX10, CBR thou! Spending more money to get the duke might be hard, but after riding one you know where that money has gone. Ducati make a fantastic bike that since '05 has really come ahead and advanced from the old Ducati character (flaws). ANybody who prefers Jap sports bikes over the ducati superbikes has rocks in their heads, OR, is Wayne Gardner! -385-

Yep....no worries Trav

Desmodromic valve actuation.........hmmmmmmmmmm

Maaaate. there's Ducati mechanics retired to the south of France on the dough they've made checking the multitude of Ducati tappets at every valve check

The new Ducati is a sweet looking thing which will suit the cafe cruisers.I bet not many here have been passed by a Ducati because their riders tend to be very cautious and to say that they are better than the jap 1000s is crap.

Best looking bike ever - don't think it'll ever lose that title.

Aprillia and busa are distant seconds, and then everything else doesn't compete for looks.

Only thing wrong with the 916-998 range is the dry clutch...and silly cost, of course. I'll get one when they're super secondhand cheap.
