Fuel injection

Quote:I was riding to Melbourne on Saturday when my 1999 Busa decided to stop. With a complete engine failure I coasted to a stop. When inspecting the warning lights it was apparent that the fuel inject was the problem with the FI letters displayed in the LED and the red warning light flashing. The book says that this means no go, take to the bike doctor. Anyway it wouldn't start so it was back loaded to Kyneton for checking. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so what were the problems and what did it cost. There's some guessing out there, like loose wire on the injector sensor, blocked injectors, computer damaged. As you can expect I concerned with the prospect of having to fork out mega bucks for a computer! Any ideas? Ciao Pedro.

I had similar problem after last years toy run.

When I returned to my bike after having a few light refreshments the bike would turn over but not start & the FI waring light was flashing.

After pulling just about ever panel off the bike found out that the fuse to the FI had blown. So I replaced it with the 5A spare put every panel back on turned the key to find out that it had blown again. After a few choice words I then replaced it with the 10A spare but this time I didn't turn the bike off before replacing the panels.

I have since replaced the 10A with the correct 5A fuse & have not suffered the problem again. I just had the bike serviced a few days before this occurred plus I was 2-up for the toy run so I assuming that a wire to the FI must of grounded somewhere on the frame with the extra weight (maybe I shouldn't refer to my partner as extra weight) as most of my riding is done solo.

I took the bike back to the service centre & they couldn't find anything wrong or they didn't look real hard, who knows. I haven't been able to find anything out of the ordinary myself so I would be interested to hear what they find wrong with your bike, hopefully it will be only something minor.

About 9 months ago I had the FI code start flashing 1/2 way through a big ride once - in the middle of nowhere. The bike seemed to be running fine, wasnt hot, plenty of oil etc etc. I cautiously rode home and that was the last I heard of it - never happened again. Weird

A friend at work just had the FI light come on the other day. No go on starting the bike (TL-1000-S '99 model). Having a manual for it, he ordered a little switch from Raceway Suzuki for about $30. The little switch is actually just a bit of wire with a plug one end and a little LCD the other end. Plug it into the spare plug under the seat at the battery, and the screen says a number at you. Eg: 4 - could mean that it is a blocked injector, or 2 - low pressure. The manual states the codes.
Might come in handy for your info. Peter
