Awesome Turbo's
#1
Well I just had my first decent ride on my Turbo and all I can say is Holy Crap, the thing pulls like a freight train from hell, what a buzz!

I would highly recommend this power upgrade, has to be the best bang for buck! Ok it is dearer initially to all the other alternatives, but the reliabilty of this setup would have to pay for itself in the long run.

The bike rides like a stocko till about 6000rpm, which is great for normal riding and should be ok for hitting the twisties as well, just a tonne of power when I want it.

Down side consumes more fuel and fork maintenance might be an issue as it wants to shoot sky high in the lower gears on boost. Still lifts in the higher gears but a little more controllable.

Now I am just looking forward to trying to get it down the track, could be quite a handfull.

Shayne Ya have to ride one to understand, .
With the right wastegate setup and boost control first gear will be as easy as 3rd now, still power wheelie anytime you want but not so sharp that its difficult to ride.

I'm not sure I'd like to race one unless it was set up for

the strip. That is just from riding Grants turbo at the

Sports Bike Shot out, it was a real hand full to launch,

but I will add that his bike has had no set up work ( susp

tune ) for the strip. But after going to the Sun State

Nats and taking my 1397 for a spin, I just love the way

she pulls from down low and the sound there were a few

Buas's there but NOTHING was as sweet as my bike just

ticking over in the staging lanes ( other than Rony Stayt

ZX 12 with a big crank )

As I said just my 2 cents worth. I would love to get on a

bike that has had some strip set up work done. May be

in future......... ...

+1 Maj ................... theres a good one for sale in QLD
Mine actually boosts up from around 3K Shayne and it's a blast as you say ............... come out of a corner leaving big black squirrely lines as ya blast past a stocker two up with out even having the throttle to the stop. Ride one and you'll buy one

Pete I think you are right, checked Shane's old Dyno run and it was on boost well before 6000RPM, it just seemed like there was plenty of off boost RPM to play with, lots to learn.

Yep it will need a bit of setting up to get any decent times down the strip.

Richard glad you like the big bore, will be interested to see how she runs at the Winternationals!

To get someone like S&R Pro to do it to your bike - around $10k. Lots of bickies, mind you just listening to these petrol heads talking about the power characteristics has got my attention.

Hi Max,

Dont do S&R Pro, get a Ghetto Kit and a trusted soul to tune it. I think Petes Pitstop do the Ghetto, (I'm a defector from easyrider imports since Ray started taking on anybody, and now supporting Petes Pitstop ) and I think you would be happier.

I am taking the road less travelled with my turbo but it will be special to me when it is finished.

A road less travelled. Now there,s a line I should have used.Motorcyclist like the twisty roads when they ride and not the highway.Yet when they can,t ride and they want to go their own way with mods for their own satisfaction of accomplishment with all respect to advise received, they,re advised against it.What ever happened to originality?Satisfaction comes from hard work and careful consideration of design parameters to acheve something original, not signing a cheque for a stage whatever package. All the best with it graham, viva la difference.
