For those at jindy a chap was there who makes carbon fibre tanks and is moulding the bodywork. It is vacuum formed and has NO pinholes(i saw his tank). As easyrider has a lot of trouble with overseas suppliers of carbon parts would anyone be interested in this stuff.I am.A carbon tank and airbox could potentially save between 7-8kg off the front of the bike. With dads kevlar tank it steers noticeably nicer than mine. The guy mostly does stuff for top fuellers but if his stuff is the goods I,ll promote the hell out of it worldwide.GO AUSSIES. i wouldnt mind seeing what price he was looking at and some pics of the work. being a "fuller figured gentleman" myself im always looking for ways to drop weight other than dieting....
It was a beautiful piece of work I could be interested. Glen do you have a firm price. Bruce

I,d like to go and see him first and see if he is interested and how aussie labour costs make it viable or not worldwide. He did mention around $1500 for a tank.It would need to be kevlar inside for impact resistance for road use and carbon outside otherwise it will have poor puncture resistance.I requested the infill panels as a potentially popular item as well. $1500 is pretty reasonable........ if its around that price of course....
Hey Bruce,
is the chappy you were talking about who makes about any carbon body part ready for orders as yet?

He is working on prices for glass undertails and rear huggers. Should be soon. Carbon is a while away yet and will not include tanks. Bruce

I love the idea of a carbon tank and will buy one when they are available but really Glen how is a decrease of weight equalling 0.02% of total bike mass not including rider going to probuce a noticable difference in steering.
Can anyone really tell the difference between a full tank and one 3/4 full, doubt it.
Keep it real mate.

Bruce I have a kevlar tank and have ridden a Busa with the stock tank and there is a big difference in the way the bike turns in and out of a corner, u can feel the diff. when u jump on the bike and get it upright to ride. I say unless u have first hand experience and u assume, u open yourself up to be called names (Bad Names)

what sort of bad names ?
everyone is entitled to an opinion... if yours is it makes the bike corner better, good, it it doesnt help.. good.. who the fck cares.. Surely we can take everyones opinons, put them with our own thoughts and decide for ourselves whether we want a lighter tank or not
