How to reduce annoying Marketing Calls....
#1
When I moved into this house, I kept the original phone number. Unfortunately, the previous owners were older and very chatty - plus they were an easy touch, so unbeknownst to me the number was on every list you could think of.

Almost since day one we were receiving between 6 and 8 marketing calls a week, every week. Got so bad, we even used to keep a tick-box score card next to the phone. Our worst week was 11, our best was 5.

My Dad recently saw something on the TV about opting out and while unsubscribing himself, also unsubscribed me. It took about 5 weeks, but suddenly call rates have dropped to one or two a week. Mainly from overseas - you know the ones, they pronounce your name incorrectly, thick accents and have trouble with the language.

This does seem to work HOWEVER it only works with registered members of ADMA. The overseas callers aren't members and there are a lot of local telemarketing groups who aren't members as well. It won't stop all call, but you will notice a reduction.

If you go to this web address and select "Do Not Contact Service" on the top menu, it will take you to the right page. You can opt out of mailed material as well.

And what about the one from Seinfeld...
You: Excuse me but I'm busy now...do you mind giving my your after hours number and I will get right back to you...

Them:Sorry sir I am not allowed to do that.

You: Well now you know how I feel...
and hang up.
Cheers,
Pete

I've had an unlisted number for decades so I only get a couple of calls every 3 months or so from systems that auto dial & hit your number at random..

Anyway, I NEVER answer their questions, I just keep asking THEM questions until they give up in disgust

I just tell them I'm not interested and hang up, but we don't get many these days since we got an unlisted number a 2 years ago. Wazza.

I like it when they ring, the converstaion always turns around very quickly with me trying to sell them my bling motorbike parts..

I like to have fun with them... I'd wish they'd ring more often but it seems to be becoming less.. Regards
Grant
