That's why the strom is appealing to me... Not extreme off road but very capable of handling up to the extreme. And personally I have been pile drives by enough trees in my teens to not love real dirt biking!

I'm really just dreaming. I would love to do some some adventure touring involving dirt roads that I can't do on the Busa. I already have a DRZ400 for more serious off road riding but that is no good for carrying gear and commuting down the black top. Would love a 1200GS but looking at other options and the V Strom has a cult following just like the Busa.

I really like the new 650XT with the wire spoke wheels and other extra's on the Aussie model.

I had a weestrom for a while, very capable bike for offroad as long as you keep reminding yourself its a 200kg bike
then sold it and brought a Tiger 800, much sharper offroad but less comfortable on road , still think it was the right move for what i'm doing Last ride while everyone else was at the Island we were riding the Vic high country most challenging bit was Benambra to Tom Groggin via 4wd tracks , took 2 attempts, first day got ourselves in rocky steep terrain that would have suited a DRZ fine but not the heavier bike with dual sport tires even the more aggressive ones like ours

Your DRZ is fine as an ADV bike, plenty use those for exactly that purpose. Throw a giant loop bag on behind you and you're good to go.
If you want more from it then a safari tank and a seat concepts seat.
