Had the Magna 3.5 and they were the first of the breed. Plenty of poke and that motor would just gobble up the miles. Had it for over ten years from new and never a major fault. Lovely big car with a very high equipment level and great value for money.

I worked for a Mitsubishi dealership when they were released, and had one as a drive car for a short period of time. They don't have any major issues to speak of, good car in a beige kind of way.

Only issue I had with V6 Magnas was their appetite for tyres, but that goes with most FWD cars. Check the pressures frequently.

The 380 is a hugely underrated car IMO (alhtough I'm slightly biased with my love of the three diamond badge), I think it's a bargain that for under 10k you can get a relatively modern and feature packed car that will give you headache free motoring.

Plus, if your interested, they will do a 15.4 sec 1/4 in stock trim, but bolt on a 100hp nitrous shot and an auto will run high 13's all day. Fast enough to put most Commodores and Falcons in the mirror.
IMO, $600 well spent.
Not sure about the P76 statement though.....17,000 P76's V's 32,000 380's......and very different cars.

My comment about the P76 vs 380 similarity is they were both designed to compete against the Falcon/Commodore market stronghold and bad timing with the market place and other reasons meant they were killed off before their prime although 40 years apart. A P76 may be a collectors item now but I'm not sure about a 380 in twenty years time ?

Looks like Mitsubishi saw the writing on the wall a few years before Ford and GM did.

Definitely a good car, the cops used them in general duties and they raved about their reliability and performance, good cornering and power. If I didn't need a 4wd would be a car on my list.

Must say the Mitsubishi's are good value for money...will be getting a new cab chassis Triton in a couple of years and atm they are 19k with tray drive away or just under 22k for a turbo diesel same deal...best priced pickup of all... apart from the hideous Chinese efforts...

Actually Steve, don't knock ALL the Chinese efforts mate......

The missus and I are looking at getting a new 4x4 dual cab in the4 new year. Yes the Triton is a front runner @ $30K drive away but it's a photo finish with the Foton. We are going to have to take both of them out for a test run at same time to decide.

And for those nay sayers about he Foton.... it does boast a Cummings 2.8Lt turbo diesel constant torque motor, Borg-Warner transfer case, DANA front and rear diffs & GETRAG 5-speed... all USA or EURO
It is also a larger 4X4, being closer to the Amorak unlike the Triton which inside seems no bigger than my wifes Lancer. And it comes with all the extra leather trim and bells & whistles that are normally part of the next level up 4X4. However the Triton does offer the 5 year 130K warranty while Foton are stuck on the 3 yr 100K......
The Triton reputation is long and ranges from good to bad with the base model 4x4 seeming to be competing in a big boys market with a yesterdays vehicle.

Bro in law has one....still prefer the Triton but each to their own I was referring to the Great wall efforts...forgot about the Foton.... I saw a Great wall truck the badge had broken and it said Eat wall. One thing about these kinds of vehicles is potential owners wanting car like performance.

My truck is exactly that, a commercial vehicle....gives a great ride, pulls a chunk of weight....the gear change is a little clunky, so what? if I wanted a car that's what I would have bought.

The fact is I loaded my truck up with bags of concrete several fence panels and a heap of tools and equipment....plenty of room left and it made little difference to the driveability and it used no more fuel than when empty.

Not knocking what you want Tony but some want car like acceleration and comfort as well as load capacity etc....you got to pay for it somewhere.

No matter the brand there will always a a bad story about them...I heard Rangers were the worst from several members on another forum...(sorry AHC I'm just a forum prostitute lol).

IMO some just expect too much from what is and used to be a simple load carrying vehicle with few creature comforts... I mean electric mirrors....for crying out loud... I set my Triton ones once and they are still at the same setting four years later. My truck has air bags blue tooth and electric windows anything more is for pussy's hahahaha!
