Might be able to help you there Raz. I've still got all my original "Boost by Smith" interface and ecu editor gear in a box somewhere.
Will PM you later tonight.
Thank you very much!! :) The old man needs one and getting close to xmas the full price of the Woolich from brissy is a bit tight atm :)
Even a loan for a case or something would be awesome.

Hey Paul
Happy Christmas to you! Rob

pretty sure thats gen 2 stuff
gen 1 has a 5 wire adaptive harness to install http://www.boostbysmith.com/ecu.html pics of the harness and installation instructions Woolich has changed to a different program than editor used for flashing the ecu (editor used FDT) and i hope its more successfull on the gen 1 , it used to get frustrating trying to connect , sometimes it would happen first go and others took 10-20 attempts , gen 2 was so easy in comparison As you have an early 99 wouldnt it hold value better in original condition

Correct Maj, in the pic it is the GenII harness. I used to have heaps of gear for both Gen1 and Gen2 for flashing
but what's left is in the pic. GenII harness can still be cut and connected as a temp solution though.

Hey hey. Thank you very much bikerboy. You are right I could hack your cable but why do that when.... its yours not mine lol and it would stuff a perfectly good one for a gen 2.
Thanks a million however. ;-)

Raz...'cause that one is a spare....and it's Christmas lol

oh... in that case... I need to read up and figure out to change it for a gen 1 - coz if so then my old man can come riding with me\us over Xmas!!
I'll pm ya. (17-12-2014, 11:34am)RaZ Wrote: oh... in that case... Should be fairly straight forward. Maybe best to also give Justin Woolich a quick call to confirm. See ya on Sat.

They will not convert , ecu pins are different and pretty sure the interface box is different too, mine have a different connector that is not interchangable on the box
i do have the correct gen 1 harness here (usually buy several at a time ) but you still need the right box
You might be right Maj, but looking at it, I don't see how it can not be done. If you cut the ends off the GenII harness (yosh & sds plugs connections - onboard Gen2, 2 wire harness is irrelevant here) essentially you are still left with the required 4 ecu wires, guage data and ground wires + 1 extra wire. Is it not just a matter of matching the correct wiring?
True the ecu pins, tbar and ringlet will be missing on the harness being cut wires, but that's it? The flash box itself would obviously have a different plug on it Gen1/Gen2 which should not matter if it's being hacked, but when you open them up it's just a very basic usb to plug board with a switch in between.

you need the correct ecu pins on the ends of the adaptor wires , gen 2 has 2 wires you have to install between the ecu and sds connectors and its ecu pins are much finer than the gen 1 , then the inteface plugs into the sds/yosh as a conveniant interface
gen 1 has 4 new wires and they use a new plug thats independant of the yosh and gen 1 dealer plug You can rob the wires from the yosh plug and put them in the new positions and use that yosh connector as the interface plug, but pretty sure you still need the gen 1 box because of connection protocols

Hey hey ,
seems the wiring setup from the plug in to the flasher unit is also different. Boostbysmith confirmed that you can't use the gen2 flasher on the gen1 and trying to hack it will probly end up in me stuffin git somehow lol doh! There was a hope there for moment but the WRT one is the one that CAN be used on gen2 and gen1 ;) |
