Go Rod. I've found eating healthier food a better way to go rather than going on a "diet". The word "diet" to me sounds like some special short term thing but if you just make some adjustments to what you eat and keep at that it's a lot easier. Try to eat real food and you should be fine. Splurge out on junk occasionally but know that you ARE eating the wrong food when you do and get back on track again.

Don't ya love the way our modern world has changed teh perception of normal words??

Diet has become a sloganised and commercialised trend where really the word literally means "food and drink regularly provided or consumed, or habitual nourishment". But your are right in that trend dieets never work in the long run... look at how many of the "Biggest Loosers" returned to their previous size or bigger??

It's all about lifestyle choices and at the wrong side of 45 I really need to get off my sagging ass and put into practice the knowledge I have LOL I do love walking but I hate doing it in cold or wet weather so being in Tassie my walking days are very slim over winter. And I will admit that I love a sleep in... can be up and gone in 15 minutes each morning which really pisses off the missus LOL

So... back off the smokes for 8 days now, walking 2 K each night and gotta start assessing my diet (already cutting down portions).

Good thing is weather is getting warmer so back out in the garden again which is ALWAYS hard friggin work LOL lots of digging to be done and only a wheel barrow and shovel to do it with... YAY

So much sugar in those drinks. That alone would be making a huge difference Rod. Read labels and know what's in stuff. That will also help

Swimming at a moderate pace for 1 hr equals around a 4 hr walk.
Before the opp i was swimming around 4-5 hrs a week. The pool is close to home so its not a big deal getting there.
