Water tanks gravity fed to house so no pumps required.
Solar panels but only 8c feed in tariff, so I utilise the majority of the power during the day to capitalize.
Twin LED spotlight solar powered spotlights used over the 2 acre block. Sold at Bunnings for $28.
Had them for 18 months now and still going strong. Install and forget. No power required.
Old double brick house with 1 foot thick insulation in roof and wide eves.
Evap air conditioner so cheap to run if required.
I offset the above by owning 8 cars and 3 motorbikes.
Including, dare I say it, an oil spewing CR250 two stroke.

It's very interesting to read peoples thoughts on this type of thing.
Again....Raaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Yeah they stuffed that tarrif up but panels ARE cheaper now. I'm on the old 35c or what ever it was, lucky.

I think a lot of people on the energy saving thingo, is due to the bloody cost of energy in dollars. Could be wrong?

What shits me off, though it makes sense, is that the more people that utilize solar power, the more the electric bills will increase due to the decreasing revenue from power sales by the electricity providers.
The only way to escape the trap is to go "off grid", but it's not economically viable at this stage.
